One of the best things about the whole show was showing how pointless a superhero existence would be. They're basically lounging around doing fuck all most of the time. Their grandiose boardroom is basically just there to make the monotony feel less boring. That part where Translucent was obsessing about piracy eating into their bottom line was great, as was Homelander breaking down why stopping a plane midair probably wouldn't work, though I don't entirely buy that he couldn't find a way to ease it down gently.

I read the comic while it was coming out and I liked it a lot. Watching this season I enjoyed it a lot in spite of the changes they made to the source material. I have a theory it might be like an uncanny valley sort of effect, when something is the same it can be great (i.e. Sin City), and when something is too different (I guess The Boys would fit here) you can appreciate it on its own. But when it rides that line of "close but not quite" like the Watchmen movie or Preacher then the enjoyment is robbed because all you can see is the missed opportunities and failed potential.

The comic? Probably won't be anywhere near the same as the show but Vought eventually get one of their men as president of the USA and seems supes in military is a go. But at the same time Homelander goes rogue and organizes a coup to seize control. Meanwhile Butcher gathered enough intel to help NORAD produce missiles and weapons effective against supes so it's an all out war. The supes lose. Vought falls back and comes back with a new name. Meanwhile Butcher sets in motion a plan that will kill everyone who has compound V in their system, including himself and The Boys. Hughie manages to stop him. At the end he's the only Boy left. He's still with Annie. Vought is still peddling superheroes but Hughie ha managed to blackmail them into thinking that if they try the "supes in the military" once again anywhere in the world he's going to activate Butcher's plan and kill them all.

Pretty sure that Disney will sue the fuck out of them if they tried a similar shit.
