it wasn't funny. Out of all the stuff in the show that was chuckle worthy, that was cringe because it was trying to go viral. It was obvious and that is why it sucked so bad. The sad thing is, the retards that obviously were retarded made it go viral.

Season 1 and 2 were ok. Not exceptional. But ok. Season 3 sucked. I don't know what they did to change the show up for season 3 but it wasn't funny. Nothing about season 3 was good.

Tiny Rick actually follows science fiction premises and fits in the tone of the show, where a scientist turning their self into a pickle is just lolsorandum nonsense that doesn't fit in with the general tone of the show or follow any general science fiction that is rooted even a little bit in reality or established scientific theories, its something that belongs on ATHF not R&M.

Stop focusing on boring faggoty family drama with Summer, Jerry and especially Beth. It's not funny. It's not compelling. Most of the comedy of the show (in the first season and in premise) was Rick going on fantastical and creative adventures that didn't make sense and he'd bring along Morty (the audience surrogate) who is usually clueless and we look to react to all the insane stuff we are seeing for the first time. This adventure would usually serve as a juxtaposition for the B plot which usually involved petty normal people drama with the parents arguing over something pointless or Summer worrying about some pointless thing in school. They would be the straight man act in a comedy to compare to the extremely odd adventures of Rick. After all the weird adventures of Rick wouldn't be that weird if Jerry, Summer and Beth and everyone else on the planet was equally crazy and went on those adventures too (like they do now in the show).

The show doesn't get more interesting because it tries to have drama as a facade. Nobody on earth cares if Jerry and Beth break up. Nobody cares about Beth as a character. I would hope very few people care about the "evil Morty" plotline. It isn't interesting watching Rick when he's now portrayed as a godlike invincible character. It isn't interesting to watch Morty behave more like Rick because it makes the adventures seem less interesting.

Bushworld Adventure is probably the best episode of the show

This. I really believe the writers didn't know what they were doing that caught the fans attention, but you nailed it. I think it's too late too. I lost interest in it and actually forgot about the show until I saw this thread, and I actually really like the first season.

I didn’t come to /t// here before I watched rick and Marty, used other boards, I didn’t know about the writing staff and I thought it was a weaker season.

They took everything fun about Rick's reckless insanity and turned it into a deeply depressing story about a suicidal old man breaking his family apart. A character like Rick is only fun is he's not self-aware. Having Rick not care about living re-frames the entire series and makes it not fun anymore. He would easily have gotten over accidentally killing our Morty, and it's hinted that he's done so in the past before jumping dimensions and starting over.

Bushland Adventures summed it up perfectly when he's driving Morty around with a gun pointed at his head rambling about his impending murder-suicide
