Both are very good in their own right but Alien is obviously superior.

Just like The Terminator franchise, both are good but the original is the better film.

When it came out Alien was fresh and amazing but when you see it today there is nothing impressive about it. Its a generic slasher movie in space that should not impress anyone anymore. Aliens on the other hand is timeless kino.
