I bet 5000

I bet 5000

BWEEEEEEEEEEE BWEEEEEEEEEE

because of the way he had been playing this would be retarded

Alright I watched this scene since I see it memed here every fucking day

He should've folded pre definitely. We arrive at the flop which gives him a boat. 10 is definitely in his range which would make bluffing a possibility most of the time so not betting when you actually hit is fairly dumb. Clubs would pay, some high A hand would pay, low pairs might pay. He decides to check. Turn comes 8, Damon checks again. Wilson is the one who bets and Damon has to call right after. This is the worst for him because you wouldn't call here with clubs unless you had 7 or 9 of clubs, especially since wilson knows damon doesn't have ace of clubs. Damon pretty much tells the table that his hand is strong by calling. He can't really two-bet and represent a bluff either because he checked the flop, he should've made his move there. River is a brick and he checks for some reason hoping Wilson will bet (never happening), and Wilson checks back. Damon should've bet a little over the pot here to keep his bluffing balance

The meme is right, checking the flop is retarded

I don't understand what this is from

I'm guessing the World Series of Poker Main Event in Vegas (not sure what year)

Disagree, betting on the flop probably forces everyone to fold. Also, his check on the river could set up future hands where people try to make a play at him. They'll have in the back of their mind that he is capable of checking back monsters on the river and be less likely to bluff him off marginal hands when they are in the pot with him and have position.

>Disagree, betting on the flop probably forces everyone to fold.
This would make them extremely exploitable

>I see your 5000 and raise another 5000

Why do poker players in movies always say this? In the real world, you only say "raise".

Nothing in movies is ever realistic, it's all stylized. Why would poker be any different?

ah shit dude i heard that so loud in my head.

>damon always has T6 when betting there
he could easily have a combo draw (flush and straight draw), betting to increase the pot/try and take it down on the flop. you wouldn't just snap fold, especially having the ace of clubs

though i dont know what the preflop action was like, so its difficult to impossible to know what each thinks the others' ranges are

>A 55 year old won the WSOP Main Event this year

So refreshing after a decade of lucky shitkids.

It's actually against the rules to do this in most if not all organized poker. It's considered string-betting. If someone did this it would only be considered a call and the raise would be disregarded. The reason for this is because players can try to gauge a reaction to the call before deciding on a raise.

i think thats against the rules, even. you can't call a check and then a raise.

doesn't matter what Damon could have, who's going to look him up with the hands they have? If the order is correct (Seidel, Damon, Wilson, Mecs) then a bet by Damon leaves Wilson 1st to act with 3 people behind him. The most likely callers would be the aces who both have someone to act behind them. I don't see anyone calling a bet here.

>that fucking excited hop when the flop comes up
jfc even I'm not that bad

This guy was based.

wilson makes a somewhat loose-y call with an over, backdoor straight and flush draws. i dont see anyone else calling sure, but wilson has a ton of implied equity if he calls around 1/3 pot

hell damon could have like A6o there, a million hands that didn't completely smash the flop

Also a raise from the small blind on a 1066 is a sign of strength.

Don't splash the fucking pot

was he trying to do an ebin mindgame or did he just fuck up?
