So I've been wondering, if one of the predators were to have a note or something in their car that went along the lines of "i'm doing this to meet chris hansen", could that have been used as an example for them not coming there to have sex with the kid? I mean, yeah there's the chat logs and all that but the overall issue is whether or not they intended to have sex, right? So if they have some kind of written proof showing that they (presumably) intended to get on the show instead the whole time, wouldn't that clear them?

2. You are trying to use "technicalities" to justify the pedos actions by saying "technically there is no child" but how does technicalities justify morality? I think that MAYBE it could work IF you blatantly act like you legitimately only want to see Chris Hansen from the moment you're in the chat with the decoy. You can state you want to meet Chris Hansen and that you will be sending generic sexually charged texts to the bait, and state as much before sending them and eventually going to the place. Once you get to the place you can just ignore the bait girl and tell Chris Hansen to shake your fucking hand since you drove 5 hours to go meet him.
I think if taken to that extreme, then maybe it could work, except they'll probably still arrest you for interrupting their operation or something.
