Why do people clap during movies

My theater was packed with man children and they would go ape shit anytime there was a quip. During the last 10 min people were standing up and clapping. I fucking hate Tarantino

I think it's just America. I have never seen anyone clap in my country.

Most of the humor got laughs from some of the audience. The climax had my entire theater howling. No clapping, though.

>I fucking hate Tarantino
goes sees his movie in theaters
opening weekend no less

stfu faggot

I would only clap if the director or some cast menber was in the audience and even then it would be weird.

At the movies, i clap under the following circumstances:
1. Film begins
2. Quips (hooting is also ok in this case)
3. Film ends

I do this religiosly.

I remember clapping at the end of ET (and I'm pretty sure everyone clapped at the start of the "flying bikes" scene).

People what to show how much they love something?

I only clap at the end of a movie whenever Im watching it in a country other than america. I want other nationalities to understand what its like

Yeah, I moved to America ten years ago, and I really like it, but it's true that they do clap at the movies. Mostly they clap at the end of a movie, if it was good. Sometimes they clap at the beginning, but this only happens if there's some technical problem preventing the movie from getting started and then it gets fixed. Then they clap for the movie starting. If a movie sucks, there will be no clapping in the middle of it, but it's risky going to see a really good movie in America because if a movie is good enough, they will clap without stop from beginning to end.

went to a restaurant in the states. couldn't believe it, thought it was a meme. they clapped at the end of the meal.

Once some foreign faggots clapped at capeshit here and got told to cut that shit out. Not even the blacks here like that shit.

Someone take a pic of the margot robbie cinema scene with her soles

in Europe clapping is frowned upon

I just dont go to cinemas. I experience my kinos alone.

Here in the glorious nation of Canada, no one claps during or after the film unlike our downs syndrome stepbrothers to the south

Yes, Europe is very austere and grey. Life is a job here, not a chance at joy.

I was the only person in the theater so I didn’t have to worry about clapping

I've seen people clap during the credits of a movie on opening day but not so much during the movie itself. I remember people clapped at times during the midnight viewing of Star Wars episode 3 though.
