Policies pushed by politicians are always meme-tier and not particularly effective. Obamacare's rollout for instance, did not have any serious effect on health outcomes (and indeed, healthcare consumption generally doesn't) but did correlate with an increase in deaths by opiates.

Or for a more progressive candidate, Sanders' wall street transaction tax was already attempted in the 90s in Sweden, and actually lost the government money - the decrease in revenue from capital gains tax was larger than the amount brought in. What's worse, just giving everyone free college shows that you don't understand how our education system works and what's wrong with it in the first place, and therefore won't fix it. The correct solution is to realize that we don't need to waste tons of time and money to send these signals, we could simply use IQ tests to demonstrate intelligence, and we should, given that it's the single best predictor of worker productivity.
