one of the founders was the former head of Disney's Animation Department, and his main directive with Dreamworks Animation was to be the anti-Disney
that's the reason that most of the early Dreamworks movies have really dark humor and sexual themes - for example he literally directed the animators on Road to El Dorado to make Chell sexier - this eventually culminated with Shrek which was basically a middle finger to everything Disney stood for

the only fun part in A Bug's Life were the circus bugs, the other characters were boring and forgettable. The main characters of Z had more personality

antz is a fucking awful movie, I've never been so shocked to rewatch a movie I thought I loved, the main character is like a bumbling jew caricature, it's fucking insane how unlikeable he is, no place in a kids film. War scene is kino though.
