Yes, 2049 had great visuals and music but was too clean and the story sucked, because it didn't make sense. Some scenes (Wallace cutting up the replicant and talking about angels all the time) were cringy and pseudointelectual. The original didn't have this shit. Neither did it talk about "miracles", nor did it have this "you are the chosen one" that every fucking movie of the past ten years has had. The original was just about another replicant that was good at hunting them. And he was no superhero, he shot them. And he had emotions and felt lonely and was not an autist. They talked about life in scenes that actually made sense. And the visualization of the world was better. In 2049 you don't even have a non dark City shot.
And while Ana di Arma is a 9/10 waifu, her side story didn't really click with me.
