it's gonna bring the furry fetish into mainstream media

Does anyone give a shit about Cats besides furries and old gay men?

Why do idiots like you constantly make threads like this, as if you never had any clue the general public were fucking dumb as dirt? It's because you're one of them.

middle aged women

i like it, Idris looks promising as macavity.

I cannot name a single person I know that wants to see this shit. Who was this aimed for?

It's pretty well known musical. Even I've seen it for some fucking reason. It was probably random school trip thing.

I dunno lads, the more i watch the trailer the more i actually want to see the movie (the song in the trailer is actually really good)

Old gay ladies and old cat ladies

What is the appeal of Cats in general? Everybody is freaking out over how grotesquely creepy it is, but even without the weird CGI, it’s always been creepy and dumb. I had to see the national tour as a child on a field trip, and it’s a goddamn incomprehensible mess. There’s no real structured story, it’s just a bunch of weird little vignettes about who each of the cats are and what their gimmick is and it’s very loosely tied together by the elderly whore cat. It feels more like a ballet or an opera than a broadway musical, but it’s somehow one of the most popular theatrical productions ever mounted. How? It’s too weird and avant-garde for kids to get it, it’s too childish and cutesy for adults to care about it, and it’s by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which means theatre snobs will automatically hate it.. Who the fuck is this for and how does it keep making so much money?

the 2 billion people who've seen the musical, sherlock.

I've seen the musical, and would rather go to that than see this tripe.

>non-disney movie
>1B

I’ve seen the musical, and I’d rather cut my dick off with a cheese grater than ever experience it again in any form.

Who /MAGICAL Mr. Mistoffelees/ here?

It's already bombing hard.

No.

Was the most popular West End musical for multiple decades.

More likely bring back the negative attention of furries, which they deserve. It was only a few years ago they were being laughed at on tv.

Only faggots will see it

>he doesn't know what a Jellicle cat is

why is mistoffeless such a qt3.14?

It’s not out yet...

This.

Also, even normies are freaking out over how creepy it looks. That's nto a good sign.
Don't underestimate the power of the uncanny valley.

>he doesn't want to go to the heavy side liar

Never underestimate the sheer number of absolute plebs. Phantom of the Opera is literally the most successful entertainment product ever made. It's made more money than Endgame and Avatar combined. And it's utter, utter shit, loved only by morons who think its 'classy'

Were they anthropomorphic people Cats in the book, or were you made to envision them as actual cats and the musical just changed it out of necessity?

Never was there ever a cat so clever as magical mr. mistoffelees

As Said. The normalfag reaction was extremely put off by how they made the cast look like weid freaks. Even outside of the uncanny valley CGI, you can't make a movie where everyone looks like they should exist.

They were cats but a special kind of super cat

CATS has seldom if ever not been a moneymaker. Here is a bit of history for the less informed.
>Had an 18 year run on Broadway (7485 performances)
>had a 21 year run in London (8949performances)
>35 year run in Japan
>Translated into 15 languages.
>4th longest running Broadway show of all time.
>Best musical Tony Award

See, but that makes perfect sense to me. Phantom of the Opera is bad, but it’s at least a coherent story mixed with a lot of spectacle. It’s the exact kind of thing Andrew Lloyd Webber is hated in the theatrical community for producing. Cats is a bunch of people in unitards doing weird modern ballet shit and singing for the sake of singing. It’s the exact kind of thing most people picture when they say they hate theatre, but it’s simultaneously one of the most popular theatre shows of all time.

It's because Cats is primarily a song and dance show. It's a series of loosely connected skits.

It also has very good dancing and memorable songs

I cant wait for the porn

I seen this on american dad or family guy or something like that so now I want to see it.

Wonder how the new version of Starlight Express is. Kinda like that they only do it for a few years at a time before remaking and modernizing it.

I can only remember 3 songs from it (Elecktra, Frieght is Great and the title song) but I was blown away as a 12 year old.

You can shit on Andrew LLoyd Webber but he knows how to make musicals that make megabucks.

Wasn't that a long time ago though? Are millenials and zoomers going to like it?

I seen this on family guy too and want to watch it now.

Family guy is where I get my culture from hehehehehehehe.

>uncanny valley

My grandmother, who thought Everyone Loves Raymond was the peak of comedy, loved Cats the musical. Never seen it myself, but I think because it was weird and colorful, yet still safe. It gave normal boring people the feeling that they were special and avant garde.

It can do both.

normiefags think musicals are for homos and Cats is well known as one of the most homo of all musicals

it's going to get worse reviews than Greatest Showman and bomb miserably

I want to FUCK gilf cat.

only literal autists don't get the uncanny valley feeling, sorry to break it to you.

Musical Kino coming through

youtube.com/watch?v=R1dy44jV8EM

And that makes it popular with more than furries and gay old men?

They look like the fucking annoying orange.

Why did they have to CGI people's faces? The original musical had amazing makeup despite it looking campy as fuck.

>tfw I’m such a brainlet and can’t understand this
