Start with "Quentin Tarantino and Philosophy" by Richard Greene and K. Silem Mohammad, if reading isn't too difficult for you. There are dozens of books of critical analysis on Tarantino's work. He's probably the most-analyzed director in the last 30 years, far beyond standard film criticism.

I honestly hated Reservoir Dogs the first time I saw it. Sometimes it takes fresh eyes to learn to appreciate something.

Well i find his characters to be caricatures and not real people. His films are completely immature and juvenile, it's like a 50 year old men trying to be cool in a high school party. He has a mind of 15 year old imo. This wannabe cool characters are fun for a little while not for 3 hours. He also comes into his films with his atrocious acting which is a pure ego trip (i'm talking about newer films, he was alright in his first). I don't get the playwright comparison. His characters all speak like him. It's all the same. There is no or very little distinction between male and female etc. The only film that has that is Jackie Brown which is his most mature film to date. Rest of his work is incredibly juvenile. As far as look of his films goes, they are alright but not some kind of visual masterpieces. The problem is really his juvenile mentality where everything has to be cool and exploitation and cool and exploitation. He rips off so many films it's unreal.
