Kids and I guess adults alike are much more interested in the deep lore of comic book characters where people in cool suits smash things and fly and have cool names, the whole tribal cat people thing in Avatar is highly uncool and nobody is interested in diving back into that world. People go on and on about future Terminator and Mad Max movies and Marvel bc it has a cooler aesthetic and the worlds are more interesting. Nobody cares about tribal stuff and the rain forest or alien fucking cat people, the funnest part of Avatar were the evil humans with their science fiction tech and over the top characters. Set a movie in that world on earth about something completely different, with street thugs killing each other with scrappy rebuilt mechs for unobtainium and sky cities and shit
