I've seen it 2-3 times. Gets better every time, and I still don't fully understand it. Doesn't help that Doc is constantly smoking

Reading the book helps. Though it's Pynchon so only slightly.

Comfy fuckin movie, always made me wanna go back to my harpy ex.

if you didnt get it in one youll never truly understand it

the plot doesn't matter

Watch under the silver lake also to complete the best detective films made, OP

One

>1488
Nice nazi get. I also agree with this. It's not about figuring out the convoluted conspiracy, it's about enjoying the ride.

still, it's supposed to make sense

>it's supposed to make sense
Are you familiar with Pynchon? His whole schtick is that his books don't.

Read the book.

twice should be plenty

And it does, just like the book

Put subtitles on

should I read pynchon's books or are they only famous for the era/culture they represent?

Does this film come under mumblecore?

>dude doc is stoned you're supposed to feel the same way
doc was sober and lucid enough to follow names and know where to go, it's just that everything is much more complex than it needs to be that it gets confusing
it doesn't have a folk indie soundtrack with gay new yorkers improvising everything so probably not
joaquin phoenix is mumblecore though

And making a profit from every step of the process

Pynchons prose is absolutely fantastic and is his main selling point. Just read the first chapter of Gravitys Raimbow too see what I mean. Its challenging and frustrating but always worth it. Start with crying of lot 49 for an easy introduction but its far from his best. Against the day and Mayson and Dixon are door stoppers but not too difficult. Gravitys Rainbow and V. are among the best novels ever written but are extremely obtuse and difficult yet completely worth your time

This. It's not hard to fucking follow.
