I think budget will get in the way of dethroning GoT. Early GoT had very good set design, costumes were fairly good across the board without many straight up ugly ass or lazy armors. Witcher already looks cheap/cheesy, and the problem will be CGI. They rely on monsters and magic fairly often, meaning the budget will have to go towards that while GoT only had the wide city shots in the early seasons well before big dragons and big wolves or ridiculous huge army battles.
Besides that, I think they said themselves they aren't aping the novels entirely which means we will either get a bunch of cool shit cut for budget saving nu-dialog that has little reason for existing or adding awful new subplots.
Geralt looks fine, aside from being hilariously buff. It still works, though, because being that jacked could just be chalked up to his mutations (when in reality, Cavill is definitely cycling roids.)

The problem is some of those could be a whole episode, interjected with people like Yennefer doing her own thing and building up other storylines. He learns about the stiga, goes to Foltest to learn more, learns two subplots that go behind Foltest's back, stays the whole night while also baiting someone betraying Foltest, and fights the striga. The Cintra feast could be shorter since you get right into him getting fancied up for the party and meeting the Queen. The whole Renfri/Butcher of Blaviken part would definitely be a whole episode. So with a total of 8 this season its quite a bit to have the Cintra story leading to Ciri in like two episodes which is a gap of like 6 years.

I’m moderately hyped, but I’ve got two majors concerns:
1.Imo, shown trailer looks very similar to GOT. It has similar color palette, colors are bleak and cold, just like I remembered from Game of Thrones. In the game, colors were bright and vibrant. Witcher world can be harsh place, but it could be beautiful at the same time. My dream is, if they can go for similar esthetics as in Ridley Scott’s “The Duelists”
2.In books, back story of Yennefer, Geralt is mentioned only briefly. It probably means, that Netflix writers will create origins for those two characters. In GOT every deviation from source material resulted in shity episodes. I’m afraid the Witcher will suffer the same fate. By the way, Netflix writers tend to over explain character motivation. Imho they ruined marvel series with constant retrospections. I’m concerned same thing will happen here as well.

It's going to be an incoherent mess because the writers are shit. It's aroom full of people that want to tell their own little stories and then they compromise to do *something* which won't offend anyone in the room. So you end up with bits and pieces of everyone's favorite story.

I can't, I'm tired. I'm usually the guy that tries to find good things in bad movies and go "hey guys, it's not that bad", and so on - I would've defended Solo and talk about how Justice League could be fixed with some tweaks. But this made me give up, it looks like shit, another one of my favorite IP gets a garbage adaptation. And we know the Witcher can be done right, we had the last game a few years back and it showed us what the setting can be like if you actually want to make a good story. But this? Where are the fucking colors? What are they doing to the lore and moral ambiguity with human/elf relations? Why do I see a bunch of dirty dryads when they're talking about elves? And why are they brown? I'd take elves looking like medieval Slav peasants if you wanted representation over this. The Witcher world is a fantasy version of Europe with Slavic roots so why does everything looks like a generic medieval England rather than a mix of France, Germany and Poland?
