FUCK GIN AND FUCK RUM edition. last thread >The Minds Behind The Terror >Featuring Dan Simmons, David Kajganich and Soo Hugh, with Adam Nagaitis as a guest in episodes 2-4 podbay.fm/show/1370641215
Because involving it's real people who suffered, many of whom are still alive today. At least with The Terror, all the characters are mostly fictionalized, the story is fiction and they've all been dead for 150 years.
That was kino, but it was more horrific and shocking than anything else.
We barely know Sitnikov though. What happened to him was tragic, but there's something about seeing the gradual breakdown of two characters that we're exposed to longer, one of whom insisted they did the right thing and another being a fresh faced kid who's terrified, that's especially depressing. Even worse when you realize all their tireless efforts were completely in vain and they died for nothing.
smaller pool of actors to choose from and actors are hired more based on skill.
Cameron Bell
Why on earth when he can have his own Instagram and premium Snapchat? He'd be the kind of person who holds paypig battles and bans the one who sends him the least money.
Christopher Gray
At the very least if you're going to post these things do it without the roastie.
Who'd be the modern real life equivalent of Hickey?
Charles Ortiz
Anyone else feel bad for irl Mr. Hickey? >be lowly caulker's mate probably really hype to go on this expedition and build up status and experience >die in a frozen shithole >centuries later become immortalized as a gay psychotic sadomasochistic villain >any existing descendants you might have don't give enough of a shit about you to contest this depiction
I heard that the real Hickey stole a knife or something? He probably was a gay psycho irl.
At least the show is a lot more forgiving than the book. Simmons went so out of his way to make Hickey as vile, ugly, and loathsome you'd think he had a vendetta against the real dude.
Nathan Baker
>stole a knife oi m8 I hope he had a loicense for that
Noah Scott
Is Hickey really intended to be hideously ugly in the book? Because I haven't read all that far but from all the descriptions of him that I have read so far I've gathered that the only proper flaw in his appearance is that he's a manlet and maybe too skinny.
The show was more favorable or flattering to him overall (like making him just full homo as opposed to being so psycho that he has no sexuality beyond using it to dominate and rape literal retards like Magnus), for the better imo.
Dylan Ramirez
I liked Tuupaq desu
Thomas Stewart
How'd he keep his hair so silky?
Jose Perry
Without him we wouldn't have all those moments of Blanky being based.
Evan Hall
to make the Esquimo look more like savage creatures to scare the crew even more
Jordan Bailey
I don't buy this whole no sexuality thing for a moment. Sex feels good. Doesn't matter what your motivation is for doing it, if you're deliberately seeking it out and getting off on it then you are a sexual being.
Carter Reyes
some believe that asexual and aromantic people exist: people with no sex drive or no sex interest/necessities, or have sexual urges, but don't have romantic urges.
Michael Hughes
I know asexuality at least is a thing (usually caused by trauma and other psychiatric issues) but Hickey is absolutely not asexual.
Leo Campbell
aromantic then he clearly wants to fuck, but he's too much of sociopath to connect with someone
It looks a lot like it. I actually enjoy these threads just to talk about /rbmk/ but like 80% of all posts are gayposters. I'd say women fawning over the actors but there aren't any girls on the Internet so they're just fags spamming this thread with their gay fantasies and dumblr images. On a different note to try and bring it back on topic, I really liked the dog shooting scene. A lot of people say it's a waste of time but it really shows how the average random Soviet was affected by the explosion in the following weeks/months or so.
>ywn drink vodka and party with Toptunov >ywn fight a drunken Toptunov Irl Toptunov sounds way cooler, while show counterpart seems to be a generic twink. I just want a show with the plantfus fucking around and having a great time.
Right you are user. I think it was because they knew they were going to die and did it anyway. And the fact that it turned out to be an unnecessary action in the end, just adds to it. Irl there were at least four people down there turning n the pumps, maybe more?
Well he's going to be in Peterloo whenever that is released, and he's on the Catherine Keeler series, but it isn't on his IMDB yet. He is best on stage though. So talented.
I'd been avoiding The Ritual, because i thought it was going to be horrible. Just watched it last night, and was pleasantly surprised. It was still just ok.
>got 16 bottles of booze like ordered >couldn't get whiskey because there was no whiskey >his peer lt. hodgson convinced him there was an imminent attack with his hysterical recanting of a brutal horror story of rape and mutilation by indigenous peoples >his highest ranking marine laid out a defense plan made in good faith that made their position seem indefensible without arms >was led to believe by the men that there were whispers of inuits surrounding them >crozier commended little for making the most informed decision for the albeit contrived situation he thought he had, which was the fault of literally everyone around him except himself >made sure the arms distributed were properly logged >was not an arctic veteran and therefore didn't have proper perspective of what inuits were actually like, was also unaware that irving wasn't murdered by them I challenge any man to be a better lieutenant than edward
Evan Brown
How I hate it when you like some actor and there's nothing or nothing good with him >tfw once suffered through 2 hours of shitty rip-off for an actor Wasted three days on it with decent movies inbetween
Ryan Allen
I'm new to the fandom, discovered him thanks to Chernobyl like most. I only watched The Ritual and started Robin Hood last week. I planned to rewatch Alien vs Predator because apparently, he's in it (!). I'm not a theatre buff, but I don't mind seeing some videos on Youtube or something like that.
I think this happens most with British/foreign actors and Broadway actors. They're good actors, show up in a few TV shows, maybe a movie or two, but their best work is on theatre.
Jace Young
Robin Hood was big for him at the time. And I think it is still his most memorable on screen role. But I think that exposure just led to more theatre.
Chernobyl is huge though. Hopefully leads to some good stuff. Would love to see him on HBO again. He also had a very successful NT show that transferred to the West End last year called 'Beginning' and that got his name floating around more. A few of his plays have gone to NYC as well.
Chase Clark
I second this. In the show with a bunch of extremely based men his Brutus with all his crooked teeth and homeliness was my favourite. And there's also Franklin in it
Joshua Rodriguez
get a better showrunner first then I miss the days where Doctor Who was a bunch of self-contained sci-fi stories
I tried to watch the one with Matt Smith and I couldn't make it to the end of one episode. It was so cringe. And that was supposedly one of the good episodes too.
Most of Doctor Who is a bit cringe, mostly because of the lack of budget. Start with the Ninth Doctor, first episode.
Nolan Mitchell
I had no idea he was in The Ritual and AvP
Blake Brown
>mostly because of the lack of budget user, the writing feels like one long tumblr post that never ends.
Nathaniel Wright
Don't get me wrong, I was charmed by him in Rome (the very first thing I saw him in), but they had prime James fucking Purefoy, this baby Tobias can't compare to him
>handsome >charming >intelligent >valiant and selfless >talented artist and writer >great sense of humour >would go to his death for another in a heartbeat >could have his pick of any woman (or man according to his biographer) >being of low birth, he knew hardship and discrimination but instead of making him bitter it only fuelled his desire to get to the top and become an example to others >compared by his contemporaries to a knight >idolized even after his death by some of the most famous explorers in the world Was there ever a bigger Chad than James Fitzjames?
I'd too, but then I remember that one /fit/ meeting where there were cakes made with cum.
Lincoln Morgan
Explain
Elijah Ramirez
I don't have the collage nor known the full details, but iirc there was a /fit/ meeting in some city, that seemly went very well. There was cake and everything. The following day, an user posted a picture of him making some cakes with his own cum on the cake batter. Really old story. So yeah, Yea Forums meetups never go well.
Jaxon Perez
It was actually a /k/ meetup where a guy served them brownies he made himself and afterwards posted a picture of him jizzing in the cake
Anthony Mitchell
>implying that isn't something Mr. Hickey would actually do irl, thus making the experience far more authentic
>be Franklin's widow >a famous artist is going to commemorate your husband's final tragic voyage >rush to the unveiling >it's your husband's rib cage being chewed on by polar bears
It probably would have saved the others if they ate Hickey's semen, dude must be packing some serious healthy nutrients to not go JUST like the rest of the crew did.
Landon Johnson
At least the bear on the right looks happy.
Asher Miller
yeah, if Hickey was a millennial, he'd probably a male Bella Delphine and/or the Hit-or-Miss trap
David Martinez
>even makes the polar bear look smug as he's eating her husband
Absolute mad lad.
Colton Wood
The hit or miss trap is pure, Hickey would be a complete thot
I mean tbf they gave an out in the show by having the real hickey getting ganked and left in alley by whoever "EC" is. Not sure if that's the case in the novel.
>"it's like a real life horror film. THAT'S GREAT SIR ONION, AND AMMA GONNA LET YOU FINISH, BUT CHERNOBYL WAS THE BEST REAL LIFE HORROR FILM OF ALL TIME!
I doubt they'll add anything extra. Mazin talking about wanting to use the extra scenes of Dyatlov in the hospital but not being able to find a spot for them is a glimmer of hope though. I want more Sitnikov scenes personally.
Bonus material is just one possibility. Behind there's behind the scenes footage.
Anthony Hall
Why did Legasov ask for a different glass?
Jackson Thompson
It was rim down, which meant it was a tiny bit less irradiated in his irrational part of his mind listen to the podcast
Noah Lopez
He wanted one that was just washed and not sitting out collecting radioactive dust. Humans often take small precautions that really do nothing in the long run because it makes us feel better.
Elijah Nguyen
Did The Terror get anything?
Cameron Bell
I havent watched that DVD. The production did release behind the scenes footage at some point though
Justin Ross
Will Akimov be punished as a boy in the bonus footage?
To assert his authority over the men and get revenge for being lashed and nearly hanged through humiliating Crozier and proving he was shit before killing him. Psychopaths hold a grudge.
