Germany's just about been a unified country for 100 years at this point. US style economic vassalization allows you to get resources at a fraction of the costs. Colonialism became unnecessary for national power and in a world with nukes and jets, manpower alone matters a lot less, making colonial forces worth less.

The US population will hit over 400 million this century because it can't secure it's fucking borders. The influx.is driving rents and income inequality up, wage down, and spurring social conflict. More people isn't always a good thing.

But they are the ones trying to escape the new Mitteleuropa. They are the ones who are trying to defeat the new German Empire, which has finally secured control over Western Europe. Ever-closer-union is inevitable and will see a Fourth Reich within twenty years. Ironic that two World Wars were fought in vain. Germany won't just rule Western Europe, it has convinced them to accept that rule.

By 2025 such flows will become the annual norm and far larger crises will become increasingly common. To date, the EU has no way to deal with refugees, so I don't see a strong future.
