Williams had physical aspects to his comedy, but he was hardly a physical comedian in the same sense Carrey is. Nobody said "oh hey this guy is doing Robin Williams" when he came along on In Living Color. Robin Williams' act was always about lightening fast improvisation, sexual innuendo, and impressions. Carrey was about doing human putty caricatures and was usually far more crass with his humor, which translated to movies better, but not so much stand-up.
