Candyman is the best horror movie released since it came out

ez

aren't you forgetting someone?

This, but unironically.
Also, pic related.

part 1 of the original IT is undefeated child horror

Candyman isn't underappreciated by a long shot. Tons of people like that movie. You're probably just a zoomer.

>one of the only threads to ever exist on candyman
>not relevant in pop culture for decades
>nobody talks about it
i'm 19. close but, pretty far from zoomer status in personality.

Attached: signs.jpg (400x600, 41K)

24 year old turbo boomer here. You're not wrong. Just because it's a good flick and a few anons like it doesn't mean it's not unappreciated. Chances are, most people will think of that Christina Aguilera song if you mention Candyman.
At best, it's cult-classic status.

thanks for the support, old man

i've only ever seen the shitty owen wilson remake

based

Literally the majority of the kids in my middle school knew about that movie 20 years ago. We would say Candyman into the school bathroom mirror and then turn the lights off on each other for stupid thrills. Just saiyan, it's only unappreciated by inexperienced zoomers who, instead of taking the insistent advice of a more tasteful old fogey such as myself, would rather take the chance on watching some other shitty horror flick based solely on nothing other than it being new. Same goes for music taste. Zoomers will cringe at their current taste of music in 20 years from now more than any generation has upon reflection before.

you're only proving my point, user

Candyman is not underrated. Everyone knows it and likes it. It may not be AS popular as it was a decade ago or longer but compared to other films during it's era, it's easily the most remembered. He's in the same conversation as your Leatherfaces, Chuckys, Pumpkinheads, Jasons and so on. Maybe not on the same level as some but never really forgotten.
Pretty good but a tad Hot Topic if you know what I mean.
Good but I'd consider to be overrated more than anything. It's considered to be one of if not the greatest ghost movie ever made and I find it to be pretty dull and underwhelming.
and it's nowhere close to being underrated since literally everyone knows it.
Bad movie.

the “twist” is super obvious and is only a twist to the mc, but this is prime occult horror.
watching Rourke’s spiral into madness is so entertaining

here's another one

Attached: silenthillposter.jpg (248x370, 16K)

that's a horrible film, not a horror film

>Implying pumpkinhead was ever popular
>Implying Signs was ever a bad film
kek

Move aside for patrician horror kino bros

Attached: wishmaster.jpg (666x1000, 51K)

nice sheep opinion, user. do you also like freddy vs jason?

how have i never heard of this? what the fuck

I don't think so. Just because older people don't constantly talk about Candyman doesn't mean it's underappreciated. Nobody spoke about Stephen King's It for years until the reboot came along. That doesn't mean we didn't love it.

never hear much about this flick

its extremely creepy and weird

also took like 15 years to make. director died before it was released.

Attached: 250px-The_Evil_Within_-_2017_film.jpg (250x322, 30K)

i never said it was underappreciated. it's not exactly popular or highly regarded in the mainstream, at least hasnt been in forever. it seems like it's getting to that status again though. jordan peele wants to do another ugly digital blacksploitation film but the catch this time is "candyman reboot"

Cringe genre

U lookin for candyman bitch?

watched this movie 2 years ago for the first time and it was really good

best line in the whole movie

Fucking garbage. It literally tries to explain the meaning of the town when it's always suppose to be a mystery. It doesn't do the games justice.

watched it for the first time since i was a kid last night. didn't expect it to be any good or scary. ended up giving me a borderline existential crisis before bed

The anime was way better.

Imagine being this insecure about others not liking a shitty movie. Contrarian opinion.

>bad writing in a movie with great atmosphere based on a game with bad writing and great atmosphere
who woulda thunk it

Barely even horror. Felt more like a fantasy similar to Nightbreed.

Unadulterated kino user.

Attached: 433A20E8-4EEA-4B2C-BA83-6C9598B7CAEF.png (695x801, 779K)

>contrarian opinion
maybe if i was saying the bye bye man was unironically good. kys, based projector. you're just as insecure for needing to further the shallow "argument"

No part of the original IT is scary, or good

This was surprisingly good

Attached: pandorum.jpg (800x1202, 437K)

same happened to me +i felt back in the 90s really nice experience watching this movie

>you're just as insecure for needing to further the shallow "argument"
and yet here you are continuing to respond in a very passive aggressive manner to anyone who doesn't like it. How does it feel being back into a corner?

probably because of the cinematography. low contrast + bloom + october vibes always does it for me
nice tu quoque. take your meds, schizo

Can anyone recomment me some horror kino? I’m sick of childish stuff with cheap and infantile jumpscares and prefer a more atmospheric, slow-burn type of horror film.

soi

>any pre-10s horror
you're welcome

>nice tu quoque.
There's a major difference between shitting on a bad movie, and shitting on a person for having an opinion. Guess where you fall under?

>pre-00's*
You're welcome.

Another ginger turned black.

youtube.com/channel/UCY6zu_zh_fIljUiN3CpHrcw/videos

we both fall under the latter. if you lack self-awareness, you don't belong on this site.

The last exorcism

also you clearly don't understand "tu quoque" at all. considering your response has nothing to do with what it means.

A million times better than the new one

this

Not horror and quite shitty

Kys

Are you larping or just being retarded on purpouse?

Watched it yesterday

Meh not really horror but watchable

Eat shit nigger faggot

Gib me possession haunted exorcism movies

nice try. and no one is larping

I hated new it and didn't watch the original one but i know I'll hate it

Bee’d and candypilled

the original is pretty much the polar opposite of nu-IT

No u

wish it stuck with new york/orleans and had more of that industrial shit from the credits like the fan
the elevator scene is amazing

The shitty Owen Wilso remake had some of the finest set design in a movie from that decade and further out.

agreed. still feels like it was just banking on the success of Rose Red

I'm watching candyman rn and its shiiiit
44 minutes and nothing really happened.

Is it some nostalgia shit talking or will it get gud

even though this had more cheesy moments I thought it was scarier

Attached: houseonhauntedhill.jpg (800x1272, 318K)

kek. he doesn't know what happens

i saw candyman a few years back and don't get the underrated hype. it wasn't bad but was just decent. what am i missing bros

of course user. it has vincent price. did you expect it not to be kino?
>perfect 90s cinematography
>perfect buildup to every important moment
>breaks every conventional horror rule and trope
>perfect halloween vibes
>non-forced political commentary

The music was another (huge) factor.

yeah

Are you guys excited for the candyman reboot

Pieces. The twist in the middle spoils everything else, but the rest is kino. Also, 80s titties.

>another forced racially charged ugly digital looking jordan peele """"horror""""
no thanks user. i'm not a masochist

>the guy who directed it died of a stomach ulcer from prolonged meth use
after watching the movie I wasn't surprised at all still very entertaining though

2nd one isn't bad either

remake with elijah wood is decent as well

If you're interested in some surreal really obscure horror kinos try Larry Fessenden's movies.

>Habit (1992)
An alcholic who just broke up with his long time girlfriend starts dating a mysterious, beautiful woman he met at a party. She may or may not be a vampire.

>Wendigo
Stars Dewie from Malcom in the Middle. Winter aesthetic kino, very tense and weird. Abstractly based on the Wendigo folk tale.

>The Last Winter
What The Happening wished it was. Remote beautiful Alaska setting. Oil drillers find themselves at the mercy of strange spirits that are driving them all mad. Stars Ron Perlman.

Also try this, not by Fessenden though:

>Frankenhooker (funny/weird)
>Sleepaway Camp (if you know nothing about it just watch now and thank me).

I should watch this again, I saw it like ten years ago. Only thing I remember at this point is the kung fu scene

it's worth watching for the boobs alone

Attached: lifeforce.jpg (500x657, 116K)

2 hour doctor who episode but with tits. pass

This looks like it would be the worst kind of modern horror flick but it's actually kino

That movie was utter shit

no u

Attached: maniaccop2.jpg (1910x2773, 2.52M)

D9 you even know what larping means?

speak for yourself, retard

Sleepaway Camp is legitimately better than Friday the 13th. It's a shame some peoplejust write it off as a ripoff.

As for other underrated gems, I recommend Witchfinder General and Frailty.

well the original friday the 13th is sorta middle of the pack compared to the rest of the series anyway

This was a pleasant surprise, yeah.

Kill List

Attached: theprowler.jpg (315x445, 31K)

I watched it during Joe Bob's Last Drive In a few months ago.
That movie is fucking amazing. I'm not crazy about slow burners, but this one does it incredibly well. The suspension of disbelief in it is so insane that the ridiculous sounding neck snapping in the home invasion scene just shocked me, especially with the shot that comes afterward.

LMAO at all the burger niggerlovers shilling candyman.

I love, and will always love this movie.

I wish that fucking faggot barker would get off his dragon dildoes and write the actual sequels. or at least publish them.

>Frailty
BASED AS FUCK
I'm 95% sure they ripped that movie off for the winchester brothers. at least for the whole father was touched by god to be a paladin, sons follow.

>Candyman
That soundtrack is amazing.

IT WAS ALWAYS YOU, HELEN

bee my victim

I actually read the book that was set in England with a white Candyman, the film was better in my opinion and I didn't think it was overly preachy

>Just saiyan

is this movie any good?

Attached: 220px-Deathwatch_film.jpg (220x302, 30K)

Attached: creepshow.jpg (630x1200, 184K)

I found out that Shudder is coming out with a new Creepshow series. It doesn't look particular good, but it does have some recognizable faces, so I'll likely check it out.

youtube.com/watch?v=inzsKlVR_N8

The new one was kind of overrated but it's leagues above the miniseries. The only redeemable thing in that turd was Tim Curry's performance.

And Annette O'toole's tits. Which, btw, were great in "Cross My Heart" with Martin Short.

Amazing soundtrack

I first watched Candyman at 3 in the morning one night when I was 15. I didn't fucking sleep afterwards. Also lived in a hi-rise apartment in a heavily urban area.

This song still creeps me out as an adult.
youtube.com/watch?v=FjUdh91y0hU

It was written by Clive Barker in early 1980s England, still the overall concept is the same. In fact I think it works better set in the ghetto.

eh for a shudder original it doesn't look that bad

the ghost writer and frantic arent really horror though?
Also, I really couldn't get into Frantic, or really any of Polanski's films. I feel like I'm missing something, they don't really do anything for me. I always end up falling asleep or turning them off half way through due to boredom. Am I a brainlet? I don' understand the critical acclaim a lot of his movies receive.
They aren't scary imo.

It had some really cool concepts. Nothing special movie but definitely entertaining.

I had the same fucking experience as a kid. I watched it at a friends house; he fell asleep like a quarter of the way in and I finished it by myself. I ended up not sleeping. Something about that movie really gets to you. It's odd because it's not especially scary but it really sticks with you. wtf is it?

Let's unpack this: they botch suck

a lot of the imagery is fucking fantastic. pic related scared the shit out of me

Attached: candy5.jpg (768x576, 39K)

stfu smoothbrain

I enjoyed this when I was younger. It probably doesn't hold up but the setting is awesome. Very creepy. War horror movies should be more of a thing.

the mcpherson tapes

what's the movie where a chick gets melted into a puddle of titty and ass?

>5 movie series
>no one talks about it

Possession (1981)??

Absentia(2011)

I'd have to give it a look. I just remember a woman's mass being allocated to her tits and ass, while her limbs shrivel away, until she's just a face in between four mounds of gelatinous practical effects, as some old guy watches.

Oh yeah I don't think that's possession but check it out nonetheless

The new ones are significantly better.

As Above So Below was boring though.
