Nobody looks at audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes but they do listen to their friends. Even my sister who defended Aladdin is going by word of mouth and isn't going to watch it and she has 2 kids.
the only thing is, people go out of curiosity over how redoing their favorite classic animated disney movie's going to turn out; what happens when they run out of properties to remake? the Alice in Wonderland sequel did terribly bc nobody cared anymore once they saw how it had been handled the first time around; if they did a live action Lion King 2 or 1 1/2, the numbers would be nothing like the remake of the first movie was.
It was not even close to the original, but it was still an enjoyable movie in it's own right. It did some things better, like Timon and Zazu.

Unironically, Avatar. It made studios try to outperform each other and push technology to its limits and remove all soul. Impressive CGI just isn't enough anymore, it's what normalfags have come to expect. It's obvious that when making this the top priority was just looking greater than everything else.

My local cinemas removed Godzilla KOTM entirely to make room for The Lion King, but they're still showing capeshit like Captain Marvel and Shazam! that are out on blu-ray already. Regardless of what you think about Godzilla, at least it was something different. The last Godzilla movie was Shin Godzilla from 2016, which only got an extremely limited release in the USA. Disney shits out two to three remakes and Marvel movies PER YEAR now. They also remember what happened with Black Panther, and tied to recreate that with The Lion Kangz by having an almost entirely black voice cast. It's pretty well-known that black people are more likely to spend their money frivolously on mindless entertainment. I guess that explains the new 007 as well.
After Captain America Winter Soldier Feige or the Russos (forgot who said it) said it doesn't matter if you make a good movie or not, people will still pay to see it. Take that as you will.

The fact that Disney keeps doing these live action remakes of their actually good films rather than making more traditionally animated takes on classic tales of the past really shows how dead they are spiritually.
After rewatching many of their classic animated features it really kills me inside knowing we'll never get that level of quality again.
Honestly, I think the movie could have been pretty good if they remade or cut off some of the songs entirely. And not just cause they're not as good as the original, its that most of the time, it just doesn't really feel like they fit in with the sequences and events.
The Scar in this version doesn't really give the impression he'd make that song in the situation, also stuff like Simba and Nala's singing on top of Timon and Pumbaa's made their romance look cringey instead of being sweet like in the original. Keep the scenes the same and take out the music/change it, and it would have been much better.
Yeah id say some of them like Simba singing about being king and the Hakuna Matata could be kept, but the others id just scrap.
Yeah, you're right. Disney fans are cancer. An anime convention started up in my city about five years ago, and it's since devolved into a generic "fandom" convention where the main focus is cosplay. They had no panels on Alita Battle Angel, Detective Pikachu, or Godzilla KOTM this year, but they had shit like "Disney karaoke" and of course a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament. Thank God I didn't go.
