Wild Strawberries is the better film but Seventh Seal is the best intro to Bergman.

This. I need to rewatch both soon but Seventh Seal is the perfect introduction to Bergman, that era of film, and Scott Walker.

Andrei Rublev

You nigger

Seventh Seal is much more interesting.

top 3 are Winter Light, Smiles of a Summer Night, and Wild Strawberries, in that order

I really like Silence.

I've already seen it could hardly stay awake

I already really liked the magic flute but yeah I think I'll do seal

Seventh Seal is more epic in scope
Wild Strawberries is very intimate and it has one of the most emotional endings in cinema (without it being dramatic)

>ywn have a friend like Papageno

Smiles of a summer night is like saying Kubricks best film is the killing. Just no. And obviously persona is the best idiot

Smiles is a funny film but it's not one to watch getting into Bergman.

Persona and Fanny och Alexander are his best. Most of his movies are solid 10/10 though.
Bergman and Fellini are the only directors (that I know of) that capture the human existential condition driven by life sex and death.
Kubrick used all that information to become the GOAT, but no film of his has the same amount of soul, they feel distant and cold, compared to the warmth and comfort that most Bergman films have.
Also Tarkosky.

Persona

That's quite a plebeian thing my friend.

The mute on seventh seal is my 50s waifu

I legit fell asleep in the mirror

haven't heard of sixth seal. but you should try seventh seal, it's good

the game is better

You need to be a certain age to appreciate Wild Strawberries

klay thompson's kaiser commercial is the strange bergman reference ever

strangest*
i'm drunk

There was a Colbert skit years ago, that started with him playing chess with death like in this movie too.

Fincher??? You think that’s better then Bergman?

are you calling OP underage or do you think the minimum age to enjoy it is like 50 or something

Both

I think he means the game called Persona.
Beautiful film. Try again later when you develop some patience, it's worth it.

The film is about an 80 yr old looking back on his life. To truly understand that you have to be older.

Oh lol, the joke went over my head even though I play it.

persona is pure trash, the worst "face" of bergman

Seventh Seal, then follow it up with Hour of the Wolf.

No doubt it was probably visually the most beautiful film I've seen maybe like classical music art films is something I have to watch a few times to get

My favorite is Virgin Spring.

I guess if you are not used to that type of film get back to it when you watch more films. I would say Stalker is the most accessible Tarkovsky.
Hour of the Wolf is quite underrated Bergman.
