It wasn't dumped so much as the third season basically wouldn't be done in time whatsoever for placement on the 2019-2020 schedule, as far as SFXs Seth wanted for said episodes requiring more time to finish. And that Fox couldn't let Seth take a year off then bring the show back on the main network channel without having to do it for other shows. So they are basically sending it to Hulu, where Seth can have all the time he needs to finish the episodes.

Literally how? I get so irritated when I actually have to torrent something and hook up my laptop to my tv. It’s a hassle, I lose the ability to shitpost or other activities on my laptop while watching something, it never looks quite as good as streaming directly, cable, blueray or even antenna(though this may be a solvable technical issue I’ll admit) and other annoyances I’m forgetting. Hooking up a computer to your tv is a failure of either money(being poor) or a failure of whatever company(ies) to have the shows or movie you want on their platform, forcing torrenting.

Isn't that problematic? For the show's target audience--people who like real Star Trek--shouldn't they be spending money on developing good stories rather than a lot of expensive special effects? I suspect given a choice between a show with stories of the quality of TOS with the same crappy effects as TOS or a show with the razzle dazzle of ST:D with its movie caliber effects, the Orville's audience would prefer the former.

Streaming services are fracturing because of pure greed. People won't pay for multiple streaming services. It defeats the purpose of why it was created in the first place. One place you could stream most of your shows and movies for a reasonable subscription fee.

Now it's gonna have to be a pick and choose your service scenario or end up paying through the nose. You will probably see these multiple services losing money or just scraping by.
