How much cgi?

im going to call it rn: there will be almost no cgi shots of a plane in this movie. maybe for explosions or gun/missile effects, but not of the actual planes. i can tell you rn there was almost no cgi in the trailer. the only shots that looked cgi to me were the pull up from the desert (where the plane is coming towards you), the roll over the mountain and the f14. basically hsots hwere its impossible to put a camera. i have seen that exact mountain pass in helmet cam footage before. that cat launch is real. the formation is real. if the low desert pass was cgi its damn good. either way were going to see a lot of real aircraft footage here. what do you think?

they cgi'd Tom's face onto the real pilot

I believe in based Kosinski

tom cruise movies use minimal amount of cgi

Tom Cruise will want to do as much as he possibly can himself.

Only CGI will be stuff where no humans are involved or involves humans actually dying.

>What do you think?
I think the success of this film actually rides on how many real shots of fighter jets they can stuff into it. That's most of the appeal of the original. People didn't call it an advertisement for the military for nothing. I imagine there will be CGI for dog fighting sequences, namely the destruction of enemy aircraft.

>camera crew all get harnesses, helmets and safety barriers

One of the best things about Cruise is that he only ever requires it of himself to do insane, risky stunts. Every time I've seen him he just seems like an insanely nice guy, even when his guard is down. Usually 'nice' actors let the mask slip occasionally.

Shame about the scientology.

Wouldn't suprise me if they use scaled models for explosions .

Guessing getting some soon-to-be-decommissioned jets and installing drone controls would be way beyond the budget.

How much are the ancient jets used for displays and training worth anyway?

Good shit

>How much are the ancient jets used for displays and training worth anyway?
I wonder who they will be fighting this time. Third world is full of old MiGs.

>they cgi'd Tom's face onto the real pilot
Those planes have two seats, no reason he can't be a passenger.

Then fix the god awful color correction that makes the entire movie look like CGI, you fucking faggot.

You seriously think Tom Cruise would sign up for this without them being contractually obliged to put in the jet for any scene that could possibly have a human pilot in it?

They'll put him in the passenger seat and give him fake controls to perform his scenes with. Then once the scene's done, he'll challenge the pilot to pull as many gs as possible see who'll black out first.

imagine being this fucking dumb and not understanding thisno u faggot, youre the one bitching about it
i read somewhere he flew everything he could except the f18. they wouldnt let him lol. im guessing that means he was handed the controls once the actual pilot got him in the air

3:05 to the end. he goes inverted over the mountain at the very end. this is an f16 but the f18 is capable of this too. i think the inverted over the mountain scene in the trailer is possible irl but it just looks cg in the trailer. and another user made a good point about the straps in the cockpit when he rolls over. they just fall off his shoulder. maybe they fucked the shoulder straps up and there were other belts holding him in tho

There was a picture posted the other day of the camera rigs they have attached to the back of the front seats in the F-18’s. Some of the actors had to be replaced because they couldn’t handle the g’s during filming. This will be the most immersive aviation film ever made.

cameraman is the real hero here

Cameraman literally saved the movie. Script sucks but cinematography is 10/10 for a blockbuster.

I hope the soundtrack is good. Top Gun was made in the mid 80s when you could put a lot of rock on a soundtrack because it was all over the radio.

Now that rock is dead, I worry what kind of modern shit they are going to have on the soundtrack.

I'm going to call it right now. It will have department of defense oversight since it will feature military vehicles. Enjoy your mindless propaganda

>It will have department of defense oversight since it will feature military vehicles
You do realize that literally every single movie with US military equipment in it has a DoD liaison and has to adhere to their terms regarding how the US military is portrayed, right? This isn't even an open secret, it's just common knowledge.

Did you really expect a Top Gun movie not to be unabashed american propaganda in the first place? You seem a bit daft.

That's what I'm talking about obviously

I can't get any harder for this film.

This is going to flop so bad and it will be blamed on it being too white too male and too straight, not to mention toxic pro trump usaf recruitment material.
Top Gun 2 will be the final nail in the coffin of non diverse movies in Hollywood. Screencap this.

>top guile

Then why are you stating it as if it's some kind of prediction and not a known fact? No shit the military action movie that requires massive amounts of military hardware and personnel is going to be .mil propaganda. It's a requirement if you want to film with their toys.

Yeah idk what that user was thinking.

boy you already know what he playin

All the F-14 stuff will be CGI obviously since there aren't any airborne ones in the US.
Or perhaps scale models like various footage in Dunkirk for the Stukas and He-111s.
The wingtip footage from the F-18 doing the low-pass over the desert looked like a scale model and I suspect other shots where it is at dangerously low level, will be CGI too

cope much poltard, can't bruise the cruise. this film will surpass fallout.

Cause I'm mocking/emulating OP. You are really fucking stupid you know that

>Now that rock is dead
Cringe

>All the F-14 stuff will be CGI obviously since there aren't any airborne ones in the US.
Or the movie is actually sponsored by Iran.

Rock is pretty fucking dead mate. Hardly anyone is even learning how to play guitar these days.

>Rock is pretty fucking dead mate. Hardly anyone is even learning how to play guitar these days.
You're so retarded, please stop talking.

Based Daniel

Can't believe Tom Cruise is one of the last Hollywood stars.

>I was only pretending to be retarded
Extremely poor showing. See me after class.

hardly anyone is learning how to do anything other than take pictures of their ass and whine about oppression.
