All Klingon design changes were explained with some bullshit, so I am going to make my own.
There was more variety during the Discovery era; but for whatever reason only one race ends on Klingon Spacefleet (does it have a name? I don't remember).
The additional details are a problem in sequels. Somehow, the ships on Enterprise look more futuristic than the TOS ones. Again, I activated headcanon to explain it away through a minimalist design era.
But yes, STD ruined it all, not showing the Constitution ships as it was done in all prior series (think the Defiant in ENT mirror episodes).

Trek is split up because of toyrights and some other bullshit.
The toyrights are tied in to the older movies and shows, so the new movies and shows cant use the old designs because they are too close to the toyright designs.
Thats why the klingons, the enterprise, even the uniforms look different.
