Why does this new Picard show look like they're just doing Logan but in Star Trek?
>picard is old and retired, living a simple life
>a mystery girl enters his life because she needs help
>mystery girl has super fighting skills and a secret past, so people are after her because she's so damn important
>picard has to come out of retirement to help mystery girl
Also, it's pretty clear Mystery Girl is the love child of Locutus and the Borg Queen, making her the new Borg Queen. This shit is just Logan.

Thought it was pretty clear mystery girl was Lal.
Which is why it was vital to pull Data out of the drawer.
It's another shitty and soulless action sci fi show. I honestly don't know how anyone could expect otherwise.
Every show and movie is about old tired white men dying off passing the torch to superior diversoyds. What were you expecting? What did you think this would be?
>Save new borg queen
>rebuild a race that is dying
They're going to go for some revolutionary plot amongst the borg where people willingly get assimilated to join the collective and turn concept of the borg into something that is pseudo woke. Otherwise no point in saving a critter that would condemn multiple galaxies to enslavement and eventual cultural death
that was already a voyager episode 5 people still remember.
>Why does this new Picard show look like they're just doing Logan but in Star Trek?
because Logan but in [franchise] is happening everywhere.
Old white men sacrificing themselves to save non-white/woman/non-white woman from evil white men has been the theme in every active franchise that started more than 20 years ago.
>Logan
>Picard
Already mentioned
>Bond
Craig is going to pass the torch to the sheboon and then sacrifice himself for her
>Thor
Handed Asgard over to a black woman. Jewish woman will be the new Thor
>Iron man
Died Bringing back Black Panther and all the other wakandans
>Captain America
Steve hands off the shield to Falcon
>Ghostbusters 3
Old Crew is going to sacrifice themselves so that some single mom and her daughter can take over.
>Top Gun
Maverick comes out of retirement and will sacrifice himself to save a female pilot that will take on his call-sign
>Bill and Ted
Became washed up losers and now their daughters are going to be responsible for the future utopia but they have to sacrifice themselves to defeat the fascist cheeto trying to stop them
>Otherwise no point in saving a critter that would condemn multiple galaxies to enslavement and eventual cultural death
Sounds pretty woke already
Luke Skywalker, even Deadpool...
>Toy story
All the toys given to some hispanic girl
>Star Wars
Luke sacrifices himself so that the "diverse" resistance can survive
Netflix turned down this shit.
It was also more or less the plot of "I, Borg." And honestly, at first I thought you meant the episode where Janeway and friends got willingly assimilated so they could steal shit, but then I remembered which one you actually meant. So I guess I'm one of the five.
That's it lads. Time to focus on new Ips I guess. Maybe find another hobby, something that hasn't been taken over yet. Is anime safe? Honest question. And what about Yea Forums? I assume classic literature escapes their reach, right? Whatever, I just can't give a damn anymore about a creatively broken medium infested with ideologues and talentless hacks. I'm out.
>Is anime safe?
Not if Netflix or arsonists have their way.
>I assume classic literature escapes their reach, right?
Other than blackwashing adaptations, there is not much they can do with that.
That would make sense, except she has a Borg implant scar (although it might be a normal scar), and the whole "she has no idea who she is" line (although that may be a red herring). Not throwing it out of the realm of possibility, but even if it's true, the whole story is still Logan, where he's helping a friend's daughter instead of his own daughter (which is what Stewart's character did in Logan).
This seems to be the plot, that Picard now has to save the Borg from Romulans who are "deassimilating" them and also doing fucked up experiments on them.
Yeah, that's a good point. "Old, weary white guy passes on the torch to a younger woman (who is often not white)" seems to be a popular story nowadays, and definitely a reflection of how some people wish things were and how they're pushing things to be.
I meant Unity but it's a spoiler.
imagine her chinning your testicles into a fine paste
>that Picard now has to save the Borg from Romulans who are "deassimilating" them and also doing fucked up experiments on them.
So we've gone so fast down the tubes of cultural Marxism that within two decades the Borg went from being the scariest possible event the writers could think of to being the oppressed innocent faction whose nonlethal demise is written as horrible and inhumane.
Clown world.
In the episode "I, Borg," Picard has the chance to send a borg back to the Collective with a virus that would wipe out the Borg. He decides not to because he realizes that it would be genociding a group of people who have just as much right to exist as he does, and that's a decision he made after the Borg had assimilated him, and a decision he stood behind when called out on it in a later episode.
It's also hard to say it's "non-lethal" when the trailer shows what appears to be corpses, but ignoring that, what's the difference between kidnapping people against their will and assimilating them, and kidnapping borg against their will and de-assimilating them?
your entire post and dubs re-confirm that picard is massive faggot.
should have been more like janeway.
>two dudes merged into one?
>that's fucking gay. UNMERGE
If you want to try and figure out what they are going to do with new stuff from Star Trek, you have to think about what your average everyman knows about Star Trek.
>TOS was redone in Kelvin.
>STD failing? Bring in Spock!
>STD still failing? Make Picard!
This shit isn't written for Star Trek fans, so what else could they do again?
Borg? Gorn? It sure as shit isn't the Breen, Cardassians, or Dominion
I didn't watch Voyager that much, but didn't Janeway make a deal with the Borg and save them from an alien race that would have been the end of them?
I think we've hit a pop culture recursion point with Picard, in that we now have Romulans who appear to be thoroughly channeling HI CHRISTOPHER I'M NERO because most people in your "general audience" only know what Romulans are because of ST09.
Borg were always going to be involved because they're the only thing from TNG outside of Picard memes MAKE IT SO AND ENGAGE NUMBER ONE HOT EARL GREY that any of these normies are going to recognize.
Gorn might get a background sight gag, they would intrude on the "humanlikes doing nasty things to humanlikes and drama happens nonstop" plotline that has been in every fucking show since Game of Thrones hit the scene.
And as you imply, only people who watched DS9 are going to know what Cardamoms or Brodeenions look like but they might know the Kardashian joke, so they'll get a throwaway name drop at best.
>soap opera relationship drama
>not true Trek exploring strange new worlds and seeking new civilizations
DROPPED
Why does Patrick Stewart sound so frail? It can't just be aging because he can still project his voice in American Dad and the Emoji movie.
Anime is safe actually, because ultimately netflix doesn't have much of a hold in the industry and the japs still do what they want.
The issue is finding good anime, because most stuff out there ranges from bad to mediocre. Also, anime fans tend to be obnoxious, so it's not a community you can associate with as easily as Yea Forums
God damn look at that Crimson chin.
Internal social conflict is what sells best on the market right now.
Because acting.
I was surprised Nu Trek 3 wasn't about the borg... maybe it wouldn't have tanked, if it had been.
>mystery girl has super fighting skills
I'm so sick of that trope. What does that add to the narrative?
Furthermore, it's disappointing to see 7/9, because it means they consider Voyager canon. Far as I'm concerned, only TOS, TNG, DS9 are canon, not a single TNG movie or Voyager because went with retarded Borg Queen which completely ruins the Borg.
>JJ the walking creativity suppressor abandons his throne to go ride the Star Wars money train
>end up making a decent action sci-fi blockbuster with some notes of exploration and a genuinely optimistic tone a.k.a. STAR TREK
>nobody fuckings sees it because STID burned the fans and burnt out everyone else
>Kurtzman rides his STID moneybags into the showrunner role for STD and takes his wretched misanthropy with him
IT JUST ISN'T FAIR
Anime is safe because it's absolute garbage designed to get pathetic incel manchildren to spend their limited neetbux buying LPs and dolls of their 2d waifus.
Older literature is okay and you can spend the rest of your life reading great books from the past but modern literature is even more SJW than television and is basically just left wing proslethizing.
>It's immoral to destroy an existential threat
I look forward to the day they make a tv show about how we can't fight a satanic invasion of demons and undead, we have to rehabilitate them
So borgs are israel and picard is america?
Yes, that's something Picard would believe. Again, there was that episode with the Crystalline Entity where Picard refused to kill it unless he had no other choice even though it was draining entire planets of all their life.
The point it, the show has never really portrayed the Borg as being purely evil and worthy of complete and utter annihilation, at least not from the perspectives of Picard and other main cast. If Picard is saving the Borg in this new series, it certainly isn't out of character for him.
I think you're confusing picard with insaneway.
What the fuck is up with her jawline? Where do they find these actresses?
>I watch MEANINGFUL television like reruns of The Sopranos
True. And then she essentially kidnapped the one Borg that was left behind after he unit was decimated and forcibly humanized her.
Watch it user
Picard hated the borg more than any other human on that show, being one of the only people to truly know and understand them.
I don't know about hate.
>that chin
why do hollywood actresses have the most masculine jawlines? Although I could extend that question to western culture in general.
seriously, once you start noticing this pattern it is everywhere.
Yes, he hated them so much that he refused to kill them all when given the chance, a decision that was challenged and criticized by people who didn't hate the Borg as much as him.
Seriously, though, why are you in this thread when you clearly didn't watch the show?
That was because species 8472 was seen as more dangerous then the Borg and with only the Voyager having the only effective weapon against them, the rest of the galaxy would be done for without that alliance.
Janeway was admiral in Nemesis.
it's not star trek any more. it's generic tentpole capeshit-lite action franchise
Oh, yeah if you're considering the films then I guess he hates them. I don't really consider them canon because the characters act like different people in all of them.
A few of these are fucking wrong but this is also the plot of the new Terminator, John Connor dies early on and some new Mexican chick is the new important character
Stronger jaw = more suction = better blowjobs for execs
So the better they suck the more successful they'll be
Picard's encounters with the Borg -
I, Borg: initially wants to destroy the Borg, is convinced that isn't the way when the chance to reintroduce individuality to them is possible instead
Descent: helps a group of individualized Borg who are being exploited by Lore
First Contact: has a PTSD flipout over the Borg assimilating the Enterprise and puts his crew and history itself at risk fighting them, before being convinced what he's doing is wrong
sorry /pol/ turned your brain into soup
Actually only movie Picard hated the borg. TV show Picard was more tolerant and open-minded.
But then, every character in any star trek movie became a totally different character.
Doesn't matter, because I don't consider any TNG movies canon.
>sorry /pol/ turned your brain into soup
Tagline if /pol/ is "The choice for Neo-Nazies", where Yea Forums is "The choice for pedophiles"
psy ops to make you like masculine features
c'mon user
>dude killing is morally good lmao
It's almost like TNG movies are not canon, because people who wrote them actively hated Star Trek
When Voyager returned home a borg ship came through with them and after it was blowed up there were drone survivors in the wreckage. The feds collected the drones and the wreckage but the Romulans were aware of everything and realizing that with what they had the federation would gain a key strategic advantage following the dominion war which weakened both sides. The romulans having no choice threaten war and both sides come to an agreement to create a mutual research/prison station in the neutral zone to study the borg. The girl looking for picard is the new borg queen.
>The girl looking for picard is the new borg queen.
cringe
Noted Star Trek hater Ronald D. Moore
>absolute garbage designed to get pathetic incel manchildren
But that could be said about any medium and franchise though. Star Wars, superhero comics, vidya... Besides, the pareto principle doesn't spare those either. And even with what's considered good or above average in the west, there are serious issues when it comes to storytelling. For example, GoT faggots still don't know what the term "pay off" means unlike Attack on Titan fans who were left ecstatic after what they saw in season 3
If the Borg are refugees is Janeway going to be put on trial for genocide?
Trek females have always had strong jawlines.
>Anime is safe because it's absolute garbage
Well it depends on what you watch. Although it did got worse in 2010s since they realized what sells well just like Hollywood and cut the creativity.
Since this got banned from reddit for being too offensive

That's all I need to type really.
It was over as soon as I saw the chin. Dam, that thing can crush unopened tin cans.
>It sure as shit isn't the Breen, Cardassians, or Dominion
DS9 chads once again remain undefiled
Why don’t the Borg just offer voluntary assimiliation?
They get your body and knowledge in exchange for you spending eternity in Unimatrix Zero paradise with Borg waifu and knowing everything they know;all the secrets of the universe, all cultures they assimiliated and their cultural works.
Pretty sure they would be a greater threat with whole civilizations surrendering en masse
the borg queen thing was the stupidest thing ever made in star trek
fitting for a shit white genocide show
More than any human, but not as much as Guinan whose entire race got dabbed on.
