>coolest ships
>unrealistic fake gravity boats but in space fantasy garbage
this thread is cringe already
I like the idea of small space ships the size of a two to three room apartments because in my own view of the future, some people will just want to explore the universe alone.
that sounds extremely comfy
Daddy's home
>dude constant acceleration
lmao no, as soon as they start manuevering, the whole feet to engine meme is over.
yes i'm gay
literally what happens in the show, dingus
pure aesthetic
ok dumdum how bout dis
Yeah, it is. If you dig hard enough you can find some designed like this, that online space game perpetually in early access has a bunch like this.
Peter Quill's first ship in GotG is designed like this as well.
Thats my goto space ship.
why's it got balls?
holds jizz (fuel)
this is a cool ship
FUCK YOU
looks cool
Still GOAT. Not the earlier or later ones, but this one. Can't describe or explain it except it still feels the realest of them all.
are you talking about Star Citizen?
BUT I'M NOT BROKEN
IN MY DREAMS I WIN
IN HERE I'M NOTHING
A COSMIC CASTAWAY
woah, this guy likes realistic space ship designs guys. look at how cool he is
>ahem
Your mother will be ashamed of you unless you record yourself attempting to pronounce the name of this vessel, and share in this thread.
such a comfy show, with surprisingly cool lore
western animated space movies are such an aesthetic
I liked the controls of that ship
IIRC it gave you all six degrees of freedom using the one joystick
хyй
you talking about the Planetside plane?
yup, this one.
Haven't played a single game ever since my PC broke out in 2012 and didn't bothered to buy another console since the end of the last gen (ps3/xbox), sorry.
*vaporizes you with technobabble space magic*
*blocks ur patrol route*
tra-hoo-icks-pal-panty-cut-lee
>space Mexicans
This is the most realistic space ship in the history of science fiction.
I actually love some of the spaceship designs from the prequels.
No, the Valkyrie itself
Go to 10 seconds in this vid (Spanish dub but it's the only one I could find) to see the joystick

sperm
Too bad about the show
Not a single other ship shown in this thread has glowing red radiators.
The Leonov was cooler and had that cute Russian chick.
>sequels get Doug Chiang back for concept art
>still choose designs which are OT ships with slightly different paint job
I fucking hate Disney
All Chigs can eat shit.
Incredibly comfy
What's the ship's tax policy?
name?
Still my girl.
Andromeda with kevin sorbo.
The way they jump into the pods and then get delivered to the fighters was pretty awesome
Pillar of autism
literally the sulaco from aliens
Reminder that NASA actually showed some interest in this design and thought it might be viable IRL for various maintenance duties due to its agility. Starfuries have probably the best design ever seen in a sci-fi series.
Sulaco is closer to the frigates from Halo and not the Autumn
I know it's stupid but man is this thing pretty
>nobody posted the ship from event horizon yet.
ITS MY TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIME TO FLYYYYYYYY
*turn
TIME
you mean a cockpit+4 wings/engines (?)
surprised nobody there thought of that before seeing the show
IS NEVER TIME AT ALL
I'm down with the Cygnus.
wtf i could have sworn it was time
am i getting mandela'd
>We worked our entire civilization into extinction in order to turn our entire planet into a space ship
>...Why..?
>Because its cool.
Based Gundam posting.
jesus christ it's true. this is how that dumbass conspiracy theory started, I'd have put so much money on "time"
Can't believe no one mentioned these shrieking bastards yet.
It's time, look
It's turn
i somehow missed this movie when i was a kid but i just wanted to say that song is terrible
It really is turn, look at the google lyrics and listen to the song again. My entire life is a fucking sham
Nonono, it's "too young to die"

I'M IN OVER MY HEAD
you had to be there dude
babylon 5 squad rep
Each of those 4 "wings" has multiple rocket engines facing in different directions which allows very high precision maneuvering. The fact that there's a multitude of engines located separate from the cockpit means things like heat dissipation and possible engine failure aren't nearly as much of an issue as it would be if the engines were integrated into the main hull. Most space fighter designs in sci-fi are vaguely based on existing fighter jets made to fly in Earth's atmosphere and have seemingly little regard towards the vastly different environment that is outer space, while the Starfury is, from start to finish, designed to be something you'd want to use in a zero gravity environment. It's just an overall smart design.
FUCK VAMPIRES
>they show that they are retarded
How does that prove me wrong again?
STUCK IN THE RED
SOMETHIN THEY SAID
if it's so good why did the minbari btfo a whole fleet of them?
what was your point to begin with? That inertia is a thing that needs to be considered?
is this from a movie? it should be illegal to post concept art that'll give you blue balls only to find out that you can't then go and see it in a movie
Film is science fiction's worst medium. If you like it, you're a colossal retard.
because they have bullshit gravity tech they got from the Vorlons.
so you're just going to shitpost huh?
Fuck that, I want to see cool shit or at the very least space shots when it comes to sci-fi. Books just don't compare
The cost of sci-fi graphics makes it so the movie must always appeal to the lowest common denominator.
Thus, it is ALWAYS the worst medium unless you're a giant retard who is only watching for the SHINIES WOOO AWOAOOWWWOOOO
The Breen ships from Star Trek are totally badass
not him and i love to see cool shit too, but you're really missing out - there are fuck loads of fucking amazing science fiction books that will blow your brain out your asshole.
>SHINIES WOOO AWOAOOWWWOOOO
That's all scifi is good for, though
They don't have the attention span to read a christmas card.
Miles long space cathedral blocks your path
Came here to post this, still unsurpassed
yeah that could be, or maybe they just haven't read the right book or given it a chance.
Anyhow i'm sure he's heard all this before so it kind of doesn't matter.
are you fucking retarded dude, this is a thread about visually appealing spaceships. when you see a spaceship you like naturally you'll want to see it in action. nobody is saying they don't like books here, fuck off already, reading your retarded posts is making me dumber
You sound like the kind of person who stops to stare at train sets.
The Galactica is the coolest space ship, not so much for how it looks (but the extendible landing pods are awesome) but what it's capable of
whatever dude, stop shitting up the thread
>radiator glows red hot for another month or two
>can’t send maintenance team yet
>welp might as well go shoot some space indians
i forget, what was the point of this maneuver? i mean obviously they dropped vipers but to what end? why jump in, release vipers and jump out? and how did those vipers get home, the galactica jumped in again?
literally the GOAT space ship
The Vipers were used to give air support to the people on the ground.
Peak low fi design
They lured the Basestars away from the planet then jumped into the atmosphere and released all their fighters to provide air support so the people on the ground could overpower the guards that remained, they came back after the battle was won to pick up the survivors
reminded me of the alliance cruiser from firefly

It's like someone designed the opposite of a spaceship
Great design, utilitarian, and perfectly matches the tone of the movie. Anyone who doesn't like it is a brainlet. 8/10
Again, like the Enterprise but dumber. Don't fuck with perfection. 6/10

what a tremendously gay post, here's your (you)
Behold, a living ship, with a soul.
what is this, looks like sajuuk from homeworld.
if it has a soul then it has porn of it.
Don't you dare lewd Moya.
should be lots of preggers porn.
i see, thanks
Which went completely tits up thanks to bad writing. Crew isn’t working on restoring the Commonwealth. Commonwealth suddenly restored anyway. Commonwealth fleet restored. Commonwealth fleet wiped out in one battle. Then they fuck off to some weird star system and it gets even worse.
kino aesthetic
true true. and let's not forget how they massacred tyr. possibly the biggest offence in my book
The Borg Cube
It literally flies in the face of any and all "spaceship" design, has no need to be aerodynamic or sleek considering there's no air in space, it flies in the face of all conventional designs and slaps them hard because it's fucking awesome.
It is the true epitome of a craft designed to traverse space where form is irrelevant, only function matters.
HATERS GONNA HATE
>It looks retarded
>Yeah but it's supposed to :^)
Cope harder loser.
how does it propel itself though
impulse engines on each face.
Right, now try harder next time, sonny.
You might want to learn how spacecraft in science fiction work.
Protip: it's not all about "thrusters."
NCC-1701-A, as seen in the hit film Star Trek:The Motion Picture, is without a doubt the best design of the Enterprise.
It's straight-edged when needed. It's curvy when needed to be. It just looks real.
>as soon as they start manuevering,
Their entire flying deck or how the fuck it is called, when pilot sits is rotational
And it's exactly what the Borg really would design.
Just some amalgamation of different races, cultures, and technology.
>no fanfare.
>no flair.
>no nothing.
just a fucking cube
technically they'd go for very big spheres since they have the most volume possible.
But cubes were easier to make physical models of back in the day.
>You might want to learn how spacecraft in science fiction work
most virgin thing ever written
>look kids, someone that thinks a sphere consumes as much space as a cube with the same diameter
Your geometric reasoning skills are weak, user, and pathetic.
That's just splitting hairs at this point, but the point still remains.
Step the fuck aside, shiplets.
I am unfamiliar with this ship. What's it from?
The Valkyrie in my game
Shitty video just meant to demonstrate a rough level layout but she still looks nice
streamable.com
also inb4 rain in the building, I know, it's fixed
A sphere has the smallest surface area with the largest enclosed volume, don't you know that? you don't? aha ahahhaa
There's never any indication that this is what a GSV actually looks like, there appearance is never really clearly described so there's quite a lot of artistic license at play here.
I always imagined them being basically huge flat rectangles.
The Culture series by Iain M. Banks, go read them right now.
it's from "magic tech masturbatory stories about robots being magic and atheist" by iain m banks.
>ancalagontheblack.jpg
Can I get a rundown?
Went tits up when they went from serialized format to episodic problem of the week format
see
It's garbage fiction. It's Patrick Rothfuss-tier fiction.
That's not what a Culture ship looks like, but yes, it could easily take on every other ship in this thread at once and destroy them all before they knew what was happening.
But a better example would have been the Abominator-class General Offensive Unit "Falling Outside the Normal Moral Constraints"
I was introduced to and had a fondness for the word "unequivocally" because of Tyr
le cheeky reply to everyone man
>I always imagined them being basically huge flat rectangles.
I think that's what the physical shape is. The field is usually a silver ovoid so that's what you would see on the outside
Yeah sorry that other guy more or less covered it, it's garbage. No idea why I thought to recommend it lol xd
It's high-concept utopian sci-fi that explores some of the problems you run into when you're more or less capable of doing whatever you want and how good intentions don't always translate into good results.
Not him but what do culture ships look like? I'm only on player of games atm
Also what was the ability they had where they could bath arbitrary volumes of space in pure energy? That shit will fuck up all of the things
>t. brainlet christcuck
>Both Banks and Rothfuss are god-tier writers and if you disagree you are either retarded or trolling
>implying the fact that on a quantum level particles teleport around isn't a result of a sort of double float precision error
WE LIVE IN A SIMULATION AND SOMEONE WANTS US TO SUFFER
HOW DO WE STOP IT
i've only read the first book and i can tell you to stay the fuck away from that series. i don't know if the subsequent books were better, because i didn't want to touch anything to do with the series after the horrible first book. if the other anons tell you it gets better after book 1, you can read it. if they tell you book 1 is good and you can expect more of the same, run away fast
Found the autist
Thier appearance is never really described so just imagine whatever you want.
The ability you're thinking of is gridfire. Where they draw energy from the energy grid separating our universe from the antimatter universe, and focus it into a beam of destructive energy.
Have fun with Use Of Weapons. That was my favourite of the series.
>rothfuss
ahahahahahahahah what a GIANT FAGGOT you are!
oh baby I'm gonna lewd Moya
Consider Phlebas is probably the worst book to start with, since it's stylistically quite different to the others. Player of Games or Use of Weapons are two of the better books to start with.
>rothfuss
jesus christ i hope you're a teenager
book 1 is the worst.
epic scale realistic sci-fi. Also, reading the books allows you to win any argument about the power of various sci-fi empires
A single Culture General Systems Vehicle could take on the entire Galactic Empire, or The Federation, or the Imperium of Man, easily.
And it's not like "my ship is invincible and can do anything" kind of little kid logic. There's science behind everything.
keep being wrong then m8
Use of weapons is the most boring book i've ever read.
>player of games
>favourite of series
>second book
well fuck me then i was hoping there'd be even better installments. Getting through consider phlebas was a bit of a slog in places
>epic scale realistic sci-fi.
Holy fuck you have to be fucking joking, the culture is a literal magic bullshit universe.
>there's science behind everything
fucking lol
goddamnit, what a giant cuck rothfuss is
this might be more suited to your reading level
well i had two main issues with consider phlebas
1)felt that the main conflict and the culture itself were poorly explored and took up only a very tiny part of the book
2)hated those protracted repetitive sections where there were like 30 pages of the main character running in a maze in a temple, running towards a shuttle, being tied up, watching a game and shuffling through the audience, etc.
are the other books better with this?
>everyone poops
girls definitely don't poop r-right guys?
wrong about what?
>118375397
nobody respects your criticism m8
post ships
Sorry, it's just boring. "robots robots drones drones minds minds oh wow big spaceship be like us be like us BE LIKE US the end"
>dat Scorpius look
he knows
well to be fair anyone could realistically destroy the federation, even in their own universe.
everyone in the alpha and beta quadrants are pussies. look what happened when the dominion showed up. it took the federation, klingons, bajorans, and the cardassians to defeat them.
the idirans did nothing wrong
Who here bought the 25k$ pack too ?
I can't wait to play it !
Star Citizen is the biggest fucking scam in history. It's N E V E R going to see a proper release
NEVER
Iron Sky had some pretty cool ships.
If we involve the Culture books, then we might as well add in the Dahak series, where a starship disguised itself for long duration picket duty by demolishing the moon and replacing it.
Not to mention Andromeda was mentioned earlier in the thread, which had an alien "ship" consisting of twenty Earth-sized planets meshed into an icosahedron.
>it's bullshit
>fucking lol
great reasoning skills user
I'd like large fries please
girls poop and itt smells worse because they eat like shit
I hope there will be a movie about it. They're running out of money and are still in alpha.
Kino coming through
>It's like someone designed the opposite of a spaceship
you do know that NASA was/is considering this design right?
Great choices
I enjoy the grappling ships from Outlaw Star
>muh nasa
do they even go to space anymore lmao
MY TALLEST! MY TALLEST! MY TALLEST! MY TALLEST! MY TALLEST!
I tend to like this design, but my interest in it is because of Sins of a Solar Empire, and it looks very similar to my favorite ship in that game (pic related).
>do they even go to space anymore lmao
yes
I like the Advent designs the most
I'm not really big on alien designs. I'm a very basic person in a lot of things, plain food, no condiments, etc. I like the industrial designs and things that aren't necessarily considered fancy or exotic.
Advent are humans though. Or at least human females
But they're not human and are actually alien, they just look human. Just like Star Trek where a lot of aliens look human, but they're not, and they have their own evolved technology.
Plus I tend to like ballistic weapons, and not so much energy style.
based
Advent are fucking humans, they were exiled a thousand years before the game by the TEC and now are back with a vengeance.
Ok, user. I don't want to argue about it. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see any reference to that, and I honestly don't really care if it's even true. This is a thread about ships, and I said my piece.
Watch it, Silvio
I sentence you to death.
The way autism is defined, I'm 100% sure 99.9% of people on Yea Forums are autistic in some way, so why is this even an insult anymore? Especially when you go out of your way to try and insult people, which is pretty much textbook autism.
Scam Commander coming in 2022. Pure kino.
good luck pilot
Came here to post this
IT'S IN THE FRACKING SHIP!
To Hell and back.
it's just a giant hand grenade
God I love that ship. Favorite sci-fi ship ever, would beat a star destroyer and the enterprise at the same time. Don't @ me
Do not speak the human language when you're but a mere pig
youtube.com
the dub :(
Talyn... Starburst.
MOVE ASIDE SHIPLETS
Also who is gonna play the cap in the eventual Hollywood adapt of this series?
Im thinking Tom Cruise will probably play Roy Focker if he isnt too old.
my nigga can play britai if he is too old
Its like if someone tried to claim that the Warcraft movie was a realistic portrayal of medieval life, you have no fucking point to reason against. You are a sub-human barely capable of typing out coherent sentences.
>nobody posted this
Faggots
it's the second reply with a ship bro
You are a stupid fucking cunt
>avoid making anything resembling an argument by saying you're above it
This is literally 10 year old level cop out you dumb pig fucker
Best Wing reporting in
In my incompetence i have dishonored myself and my fellow anons.
In my incompetence i have dishonored myself and my fellow anons.
>ywn get blown up with your immortal treefu in a supernova
I always liked the bird of prey.
The whole design screams scrappy ass war ship.
Who would win in a fight?
Excession is probably the best. Hydrogen Sonata is a fun ride. Surface Detail is good. Matter is good. Look to Windward is good. All are good. Consider Phlebas is probably the weakest because the story is pretty straight forward, but the world building is nice.
Honestly most of his books are fantastic. Excession is the best simply because of the way it deals with with a godly civilisation (the Culture) encountering and even more godly civilisation.
B5 mogging on other series as usual
Stealth tech.
JMS even said without it the humans would have fought the Minbari to a standstill, if not outright won.
>LOOK CAMERA IS SHAKING FOR IMMERSION
kek what a piece of crap,. no wonder millenials love this shit
>His spaceship isn't powered by having it feed on the corpses of millions of enemies of the state
If you watch this scene you can hear Talyn do a "beep boop" kind of sound when Crais says his name, like he's saying "Yes captain?", really hammers home the feels
>this whole thread
Why are Scifi aesthetics so fucking hideous?
I was gonna but assumed somebody must've already.
Can't believe I never noticed it was just a flying crucifix.
could tell that was a gunstar without looking at the file name and despite the shitty drawing.
I feel that if a sequel was made and didn't have a hack write and director a last star fighter sequel could kill star wars with one film.
oh god I am ejaculating suddenly when I view this image
90% of Scifi ships have a "Kowloon city" look to them. They basically look like piles of garbage lazily glued together in vague rectangular shapes, with all sorts of metallic shit sticking out. That or they're rusty derelict battleships but in space.
youtube.com
CAAUSSSEE I'MMM NOOO LOOOOSER
>if they only their tech was less advanced, we would have won
well yeah sure, but that doesn't mean much.
from that i gather that human weapons were comparitively similar but we sensors were far behind. i wonder how the centauri tech would compare and how they would have done. i got the impression from the series that the centauri were more powerful than humanity but humanity and the narn together could have won against them
post good aesthetics
This thread is now closed because I win
>b b but
FUCK UP. No Space will ever beat this
The human ships in Babylon 5 were all pretty cool
Revelation Space?
Yeah, dude. Lighthuggers make my weanus do strange things.
Event horizon is my favorite.
what the fuck is the point
Destiny might be a massive pile of shit, but i still like the Hive/Taken aesthetic.
>Literally thousands and thousands of posts
>Not posting the goat sualco.webm.tar.gz.bz2.zip.arj.ace.zip.7z
Literal children you all are
Children with BAD taste
Also post the best dropship from it while you're at it.
That's not even the best space ship design in anime.
>no mention of the best SG series
Based
Destinys designs are generally top tier. Shame the gameplay isn't as well
/Fucking thread
/End of internet
i dunno, a normal ship in space will look something like pic related. to create gravity
go away culture
I creamed when this showed up in Rogue One, shit movie but the space battle was one of the best in the series
literally cock and balls, the spaceship
Guess this one
What is this from?
why
Planet cracker from dead space, hiroshima or something?
wandering earth
>tfw i wanna fuck a spaceship
Not a single imperial 2 class star destroyer?
We will never have spaceships. It's all gonna be unmanned probes because sending people to space isn't cost effective for governments/businesses. You're trapped here.
Since we're predicting the future, can I get the lottery numbers for tomorrow in south florida
>literally planning a new manned Moon trip in your lifetime and sending more probes/drones/rovers to Mars
two
yikes, you sure do have some opinions here don't you?
Rocinante has my vote
>"we will never have spaceships"
>laughs at you in Space X
Personally, my favorite Halo design.
I always liked the pelican, even if it is a flaming death trap.
Reminds me of the Space Hind.
>WAHHH WAHHH WAHH MILLENNIALS BAD
Being a 14 year old zoomer faggot is worse. Tell me more about flossing and Fortnite while you jerk off to TikTok camwhores
The Republic gunship triggers my ship design autism because there aren't even any real engines on it for it to fly around in-atmosphere.
Nice, deranged living ship
What are you talking about, those big things on the top are engines.
Also repulsor lifts are in fucking everything.
>What are you talking about, those big things on the top are engines
get ready to be angry, no they aren't. They are laser blasters.
In space whenever you have a rotating habitat, you really want to have a second one rotating in the opposite direction, otherwise you're going to be constantly fighting the torque.
Keep the crew area away from the "risk of explosion" area.
They’re neither you mongs, they’re missile launchers.
That being said the Soace Hind and Naboo Starfighter are elder god-tier designs. But the prequels in general had some awesome spaceship designs
>They’re neither you mongs, they’re missile launchers.
no, the missile launchers are under the wings and you want to say rockets, the wings shoot rockets. Why are you all autistic as shit about this? You are misremembering the prequels.
Did none of you nerds have this book, come on. They're both
Or rather the engines are just below the launchers
It's almost like they noticed how retarded the design was and needed to explain it away with the book years after the movie came out? Again I ask, how is this ship designed to fly both in-atmosphere and in space?
>It's almost like they noticed how retarded the design was and needed to explain it away with the book years after the movie came out
That's literally the entirety of Star Wars as a franchise. Space fantasy where the physics really don't matter, but then consumed by nerds who want detailed explanations of everything, then create their own explanations so frequently to the point where the official licensing then has to do the same thing.
It's sad really.
To answer your question, it's the two little vent things at the back and they have as much thrust as they need to do whatever they want
