Was the "The Wedding Singer" the first (80s) nostalgiabait movie?

Already happening. Well, okay it has been for a while online, but hasn't gone 100% mainstream yet except for a few retro magazines. It's getting there though.

>played out

Sure kid. Anyway, 90s nostalgia will happen

why not? I cant wait for it to end

Yep.

Not until Gen X dies out, anyway.

00s

Man like The Matrix is 20 years old this year. In the 90's movies from the 70's were foreign and alien to me. Do zoomers look at films from the 90's in disgust?

90s nostalgia will NOT happen.
Screenshot this.

I've been thinking about this for a while, you can get a lot of mileage out of the 80s due to the aesthetic that's been attributed to it later down the line, but also due to the rather unique looking technology that was prevalent during the time.
So, obviously, the next logical step would be to dive into 90s and maybe early 2000s nostalgia, seeing as people who grew up around that time are adults with disposable income now, but what is the staying power of it? What is the really stand out unique look and feel of the 90s and the 00s? Fuck, what's even the standout look of the 10s?

Why the fuck do people have 80s nostalgia anyways
>Oh boy renember when we were fearing nuclear devastation of the world every single day? That was such a great time
Atleast 90s nostalgia actually makes sense as the decade didn't really have any real tensions

Neil Cicierega already cornered the market in that.

This

Wherr the fuck do you people live? 90s nostalgia is already huge.

>What is the really stand out unique look and feel of the 90s
I relate 90s alot with sunsets for some reason

Stop making shit up.

It's massive with teens.

ITT: disgruntled zoomers

It's already happening

It's already been happening for years now. Maybe you should leave your cave from time to time.

b-but they hated us because our freedoms

False.

Provide evidence

It's a clear thing since 2015 at least, underage kids here just can't see it because they didn't lived the decade.

zoomers love this stuff. My younger brother and all his friends all talk about that shit and wear tons of 90s TV show shirts they get from PacSun. Maybe it's just what's popular where I live but all the kids dress like a gayer versions of 90s kids with an added bit of homo.

Oddly enough, so do I. It could just be because I spent a lot of my summers going on hikes and a lot of jean ads back then, but they seemed to be everywhere.

This a forced corporate meme. I think Hot Topic started it

Id say the sunset imagery is probably, again, more related to our collective image the 80s. Think that Miami vice aesthetic, neon sunsets, beaches, and palm trees. Hell even just a neon sunset aginst a cityscape.

There will be no more fads. Fads are over, and decades are over. We are living in the eternal 80s revival that started with The Wedding Singer in 1998 and has been going strong for over 20 years. It's forever.

Do you ever think the 90s nostalgia will get so bad that fast food restaurants will go back to the old logos and designs? A lot of fast food has taken a dip recently with millennials

Early 2000's?

fads are still here but they're more soul-less, recycled and over so quick they go away quicker.

You mean those old shitty designs with triangles and oddly placed coloring? Yeah nah 90s funhouse designs are shit

Oh, I see that you're actually retarded along with being sheltered from the world.

It brought a smile to my face to see kids playing with fidget spinners and dabbing a couple years back

Probably, but are there really any memorable things from the 90's? The reason people like 80's nostalgia was because of sci-fi and horror movies, the music, cartoons, toys, and almost everything had a fucking cereal.

I noticed that the 80's nostaglia had bene going on quite a while now. Weezer did a cover of take on me and the video is normie oandering. I thinkit's because the generation that grew up in the 80's are the first set of man children. their not letting their childhood go that easy.

Because it's set in le 80s but portals 2000 years into past, and 1000 years into future, and also le 90s, and cosmic shit

And Trump, Russia, steroid patriotism, big economy but dark underbelly, nukes, anti nukefags, UFOs. Look at Top Gun 2. Trump getting reelected will make 80s shit permanent.

80s nostalgia would have lasted forever if filthy normalfags hadn't found it.
The next big thing will be alchemy/esoteric stuff since every white bitch is into astrology/witchcraft now.

Those are things from the 90s, but for the most part they're not ICONIC things from the 90s
None of those are "fun" aside from maybe the hiphop reference, and most of them are unknown to people that weren't in the 90s. You show a zoomer "Sex Waxx" and she's not going to think 90s, she's not even going to know what the fuck it is.

I want him to get reelected.

I wish votes for libertarians and fascists mattered and everything could have been more interesting.

Can confirm, many people born in the 70s loved Vice City for that reason alone.

Nostalgia actually moves quite a bit faster on the Internet compared to other media, maybe because the Internet skewers younger than movie producers. In real life, movies and TV shows in 2019 are still stuck on le 80s, and the nostalgia reboots are only just now moving into the 90s a little bit IRL.

But on the internet, it's a much different story. People online were ALREADY nostalgic about the 80s in 1998-2008, then the "le 90s kid" craze was in 2008-2015, then nostalgia for the early 2000s was in 2015-2018, and now in 2018-2019 the new wave of Zoomer nostalgia for the late 00s-early 10s swept over the internet (pic related).

Attached: 1558838579033.png (739x387, 175K)

>early 2000s nostalgia
Well that would be fucking stupid. What would it even be about? Green Day and being slightly depressed about terrorism?

Emo music has already revived in the form of emo rap. It's probably the most popular thing on soundcloud other than normal trap.

>now in 2018-2019 the new wave of Zoomer nostalgia for the late 00s-early 10s swept over the internet

How do people get nostalgic for shit that’s only been less than a decade ago? Is this a new wave of retardation?

That sounds kino tbqh. Weird Florida shit and early internet are great topics.

Mostly things like old Toonami, Jimmy neutron, Shrek, Spy kids, and other things late millennials grew up with. Early 2000s nostalgia already happened on the internet back in 2015-2018, since internet nostalgia moves so fast.

Now the internet's moved onto zoomer nostalgia for late 00s-early 10s things like Minecraft and Diary of a wimpy kid.

>Emo music has already revived in the form of emo rap.
Emo rap has been around for years, look at Linkin Park.

It's because the internet skewers young and for them, stuff from less than a decade ago is more than half their life ago. I remember people on forums missed 2003 back in 2009.

Looking forward to the ironic return of 00s X-treme skateboarding dirt bike shit.

Now that I think about it, this era was very unremarkable.

>on a cool 2012 summer night

I was already shitposting on Yea Forums then

Attached: file.jpg (600x600, 75K)

The only reason you’d be nostalgic for 2003 is because video games didn’t come with DLC back then.

Looking forward to the return of mid-00s inexplicable rise of fedora atheism again

....that's the point. Also it's more whining about drugs and girls than screaming your heart out about your daddy hitting you.

Depression and terrorism is still relevant.

That was more late 00s-early 10s than mid 00s

Music, some cult classic movies, and alternative tattoo, punk, skate, emo culture is what I remember

Some people also missed 2003 in 2009 because Cartoon network was still in its golden age in 2003, whereas by 2009 it was shitty. Also 2003 was still pre-Web 2.0 and pre-social media, while in 2009 those things were pretty well established.

It started ~2005ish to my memory, became normified and widespread 2 years or so later

>inexplicable rise of fedora atheism

It was the backlash against Bush-year religious conservatism. New atheism peaked in 2006-2007 and pretty much died out in the early 2010s. The YouTube religion debates got stale.

The pendulum then swung over to alt-lite e-celebs around 2014-2015, as a backlash to SJWs and fedora atheists of the time.

Its because of how fast everything moves on the internet. There's new memes and stuff each and every day so it feels like a lot of time has passed. You don't have the longevity of things like in the 90s and early 00s.

It's funny because 90s nostalgia already was absolutely massive on the internet back around 2008-2014. People kept debating what the cutoff for a le 90s kid was, and zoomers complained about how they were bullied and patronized by Buzzfeed/Facebook "Born in 2000? Fuck you you missed out on everything" or "Born 1999 doesn't make you a 90s kid" memes.

But only just recently is 90s nostalgia becoming a thing in real life movies and TV. Like I said before, nostalgia moves across a faster timeline on the internet.

People already have nostalgia for certain parts of the 90's but not the majority of it. You see a bunch of people who're no older than 20 with Nirvana and Pearl Jam shirts and might wear plaid shirts and denim but no one gives a shit about the movies and Kenny G.

This was so fucking dumb and perfectly represents boomers in the late 00s

>mfw zoomers are inevitably going to romanticize the 'obama years' like gen x does with the 'clinton years'

They already do miss the Obama years hard.

Hell even I do.

Bad news we're never going to die out

thats how they control the generations. notice that gen y quickly was turned to millennials and constantly shat on for being snowflakes and nothing of value to keep anything in that generation from rising and now its all about gen z.

Attached: file.png (609x464, 322K)

I do kinda miss his first term, politics and social tensions seemed to be more milquetoast back then. Obama's second term (2013-2017) was noticeably more polarized than his first (2009-2013), other people have pointed this out before, with SJWs and PC/cancel culture getting very prominent.

People already miss the Bush Jr. years.

Especially military people.

Millennial is actually older than Gen Y. It was coined in 1987, while Gen y was coined in 1993. However, it took until 2008 for Millennial to surpass Gen y in popularity.

When I grew up ('84) we were always called gen y. But oh well could be a regional thing.

Attached: file.png (800x450, 495K)

Like I said before it took until 2008 for the term Millennials to replace the Gen Y term in popularity. Though some people claim they heard Millennial a few times before 2008, but it was rarer.

Not to quote vh1 but people have been saying that shit since they did I love the 80s/90s/00s between 2004 and 2006. People either embrace nostalgia or disregard it

Attached: 20190624_225831.jpg (720x501, 172K)

>politics and social tensions seemed to be more milquetoast back then

It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. Obama's first term were the peak Glenn Beck years, freaking out about the economic crisis, the Tea Party, Occupy Wall Street, Obamacare, the Arab Spring, Benghazi...

I think the whole Zimzam-Traytray thing + gay marriage in 2012 sparked the rise of the SJW movement.

Look at pic related.

The cringiest of the subcultures have distilled themselves into their truest forms: social justice warriors, trannies, outright sodomite gays, etc.

Whilst there is a hint of good in each sub culture that makes it appealing, they all require effort both financial and through personal labour to continue to be a part of that sub culture. The give away is the hair. Long hair for men is rebellious, coloured / no hair for women is rebellious. The cute nostalgia of these cultures stems from them being proto-outright sodomy.

The gay pride parade is the logical conclusion to these behaviours: society sucks, conforming to society sucks, I'm a special snowflake, and I hate god.

But in 2019 we have reached a point where every subculture has no secrets or mystique to it thanks to the internet. The 1980's is appealing because it predates the internet, but also because it is the most cute in its rebelliousness. It is the Steven Spielberg kids-on-bikes (i.e not at home with their families) scenario that says 'freedom in childhood', the inverse being 'trapped in adulthood'.

We'll do it live

When the Boomers die out, or are displaced by Millenials as the most powerful generation at the given time.

Technology has provided us with greater access to information faster.

The idea of 'Clownworld' on Yea Forums is an acknowledgement of this trend. Clown-culture has persisted in many forms stemming from the 1980's back. A clown is an inversion of a human being. There's a reason 2010's culture is fascinated by clowns like Harley Quinn, The Joker, and Pennywise.

When the society is a 'Clownworld' then is there any need for a clown? The inversion is that a wholesome individual is the new clown.

Family values, religious belief, heterosexual relationships, etc. The farmer, his wife, and their kids is an eternal dynamic that can't be broken, only temporarily subverted.

We are in the middle of the new-80's nostalgia, but it is an inverse of nostaglia, it is anti-nostalgia. Instead of looking at the 'cute sodomites' like goths, scene kids, cosplayers, etc, the inverse will become the object of nostalgia:

>black lives matter
>feminists
>basedboy cucks
>self-loathing whites

>selfie sticks
Are still a thing

Late-Core Millenial

90s were literally the Era of This Sucks! so you're right

Who's the Puerto Rican whowa?

Fashion nostalgia has already moved onto the 90s (chokers, double bun hairs, etc), so probably that. Billie Eilish pretty perfectly exemplifies that, I don't get why people are acting like her style is anything original. And that's even without it being a bad Joylne Cujoh cosplay

Jackass
The Dreamers iirc
The Grudge
Kill Bill
24 Hour Party People
Adaptation
Freddy Got Fingered
War of the Worlds
The Brown Bunny
Heavy Metal in Baghdad
American Psycho
Memento
Dig!
The King of Kong

In 2029 the survivors of this current era will look back on 2019 with anti-nostalgia in the way you look at a horrible ordeal as a life affirming experience.

The people who don't engage in sodomy-cultures of the 2010's (probably will continue until about 2023) will be the ones to build families, businesses, and communities.

Basedboys don't breed.
Trannies kill themselves.
Blacks will go the way of Zimbabwe.
Jews will run out of countries to be kicked out of.

Ask yourself what will last out the current culture?

Truth. Tradition. Love. Our current culture is dying day by day and being replaced by the old traditions which have been subverted, but will come back in a new form, embraced by the people that have endured and will remember the current culture.

tl;dr: The 2010's will be the new 1980's nostalgia, but an inverse hate-nostalgia, moving away from sodomy cultures, to wholesome cultures.

Attached: nu metal rap.png (225x225, 116K)

GTA San Andreas was 90s revival. But the 90s are muted and it takes brainpower to create 90s nostalgia content, it's also a sad decade because Computer Shit was creeping in big-time. Bill Gates and Netscape. And now the world is a surveillance dystopia, 90s Disney Times Square is the mindspace now.

I miss this little nigga like you wouldn't believe...

I've been saying it for years and nobody listens, but you're going to see the early-2000's edgy nu-metal aesthetic brought to its absolute creative peak come the 2020's.
With this will come a return to proper rap rock, a decrease in individualist culture, and NewGrounds-tier levels of banter even in the highest parts of Hollywood. Expect 'cunt' and 'faggot' to magically appear back in the expected lexicon.
The downside is that wigger culture will overtake nigger culture. Think of that how you will. Trailer trash politics will be prevalent even on CNN.
Basically, you're coming one step closer to having a WWE dude be your president in 2024 and turning the USA into Idiocracy
Also, it's highly likely red or dark green will be the new color marketing agencies milk

Basically instead of being faggots that bitch about not being able to live like you were still young and playing Pokemon Emerald and THUG2, media will shift to accommodate zoomers with arrested development

>what's next
I think decade centric nostalgia ends with the 80s. Maybe 60s-70s shit comes back. But I predict it will be a new type of nostalgia based on foreign countries, like Israeli desert myticism which Dune and JJ Star Wars basically are. And China aesthetic, which is basically 90s meets Hell World, knockoff shit and credit scores and ironic Commie conformity. Which will mesh with anime and Kpop. Basically globalism with feminist flare. Gene editing will enter normie minds and nothing will be the same, mutants will be real. Global warning chic, basically Jimmy Buffett aesthetic with cyberpunk depression and insect cupcakes.

are you from the future?

I could see this if Trump wins again, like a White Renaissance and white people will remember the music of their past and want to use it to feel empowerment. They will start pushing back hard on Twitter anti-white racists and begin saying all the good things white people have done. Its going to be about defining a new culture for white people and a lot of music will sound like Old Town Road.

I can see Country mix with every genre as Country is white music. So Country Rap/Metal/Electropop. And probably metal/rap and trad metal like Sabaton will get huge if Sabaton mixes with Luke Bryan or some shit, I think more people would love Sabaton if they had a chance to hear them. White people would officially stop giving a shit about PC so the more edgy Sabaton songs would be tolerated.

I'm upset at myself for understanding what user meant by this

Oh and one last thought before I eat my din-din: Memes are dead. No more memes. You can already see in 2019 memes are dead (last major meme was Big Chungus aka just another recycled Yea Forums meme followed by YouTube shit) and if memes are dead that means individuals will become individuals again. Reddit and Discord cliques will die in a fire, literal fire like KyoAni

Fukuyama was right in the sense that a kind of history ended after the 90s, and future generations will be endlessly cycling through nostalgia for the 20th century.
