The novels go in that direction a bit (never too much, though), but the short story collections are pretty heartfelt and light at times. Character banter and such alleviate even the most dire of situations. The short stories are made to be a different take on classic fairytales after all, so they're not grim dark.
This is why I'm not even going to bother watching the Netflix shit since they've clearly went for "muh grey filters and serious characters, no fun allowed" to be the new GoT.
