I think the only thing thats bugging me is the fact that they are going with CGI suits making it a weird mix between suited dancers and uncanny valley ala Mike Myers cat in the hat.

If they wanted to adapt the musical just keep the costumes. You could save money that way and keep the CGI for the sets and world, to seel the idea of the dancers/people as being literal cats in a world larger than them.
