It's a better film overall. They (Kosick, Tremaine) were way better at doing movies by that point. But there's an undeniable charm to the first one, partly because of how much lower budget it was, and the fact that a third of it was leftover segments from the TV show that MTV wouldn't allow to go to air.

Not disagreeing but by the time NC aired the rules about what you could or couldn't do on the network had been set pretty firmly. You can tell they weren't okay with having anything too dirty or vulgar based on the mostly scripted content that made up Viva la Bam. They wanted the Jackass brand/style but with none of the content.
