Are we ready yet to admit this was a decent flick, even if it was one of the worst adaptations ever made?

I was the first to like this movie, but yeah the adaptation of the original(1995) sucked. it should have been its own story based in the universe.
also scarjo was perfect casting for the role.
Personally thought it was a mess, felt like a slightly higher budget Syfy movie
>we could have had a new cyberpunk franchise led by ScarJo
not that bad, but the source material is way too god in comparision, and Mokoto is suposed to be model-tier athetic stoic and fierce, closer to a hot young Sigourney Weaver than fucking scarjo
No
It wasn't bad but neither great. They didn't went deep enough with the story.
I really like the aesthetics of the film. That upcoming videogame Cyberpunk 2077 reminds me alot of this movie in terms of design and visuals
I want to see the initial cut of the film, with all the extra scenes and the original ending.
it wasn't really that bad of an adaptation t b h
it was ok, the pacing is excellent.
It was a waste of an interesting franchise and concept. The movie was completely bland and idk what the fuck they were thinking casting ScarJo.
All she did in that film was say her lines
Yes, of course. It was also a success since it fulfilled the goal of every american live action project: the denigration of the original material.
Yeah, my favorite part of the movie was the city they created. Major blending in with the ads while falling was very cool.
Had some decent action and the film looked ok.
Problem for me was the dull plot, bad acting, and awful villain.
Would have been much better if it just did its own thing and didn't try to reference the original so much.
>worst adaptations ever made?
>literally 90% of it is a shot for shot copy of the 1995 film
They change a lot of the plot details about those shots, though. And they totally turn the pivotal scene on its ass for Hollywood gurl power.
It was good. Not nearly as good as the original 1995 movie or any of the Stand Alone Complex stuff. Certainly better than Innocence or any of this new Arise garbage.
Shit, I was going to watch Innocence after SAC.
nah innocence is pleb filter give it a try
Innocence has nothing to do with SAC. It's a direct sequel to 1995. It's also better than SAC.
But it came out after SAC, which is why I'm watching it afterwards. I'm gonna watch it no matter what, I just hope it's not shit.
But the dilivery by the actors is so bad and they overhaul the script to abslote trash tier.
Never really liked the first movie that much. The animation was beautifull though. I liked the second movie better and the SAC series was great. I'm still on the outs on whether I should watch this movie or not. It's probably just the same as the 1995 movie but with some impressive visual gimmicks here and there.
Innocence has a nice message, but the plot is boring and the animation is not appealing at all.
I'm on E11 of SAC and I feel like they're just not focusing on Major enough. It's still an okay watch, but goddamn, I don't want to watch the human guy to go undercover.
SAC's focus is more on Section 9 than it is on Kusanagi.
>major major
>chuby scarjo
>boring ass plot
>no section 9
>no philosophy
>"first if a class" bullshit
>no chirurgic action, just shit flying around
>MC is a whiny faggot instead of a genius fighter that knows shit about everyone and could probably change the fate of.the country if she wished to.
No, it was shit. Batou wasnt too bad though.
I've had it sat on my harddrive since it was first available. Keep putting off actually watching it because the idea of crinnging for nearly two hours seems inadvisable
OK, listen, I like ScarJo and GitS had some breddy gud visuals but it really fucking sucked.
I was perfectly fine with this movie even if the themes weren’t translated from the 1995 movie as well. My super weeb friend who would normally hate shit like this thought they did a decent job.
It wasn’t anime kino but it sure as fuck could have been a huge shit show. Plus I think Scarjo is very genuine here. She feels like she really wanted to do this roll.
