Miscast venom, sandman was schlocky, MJ just a damsel in distress and a pain in the arse, but emo Peter was great and I wanted more of him! The movie frustrates me, but I do love the Raimi films. I also love the MCU Spider-Man and actually hate all the shit flinging going on between the two “sides.”

Tom Holland and Harley Keener Ty Simpkins are so handsome.

this movie is pleb filter, in that only plebs thought it was good.

It had the potential to be the best one but instead tried to juggle 3 villains that should have been in other sequels.

The order should have been:

Goblin -> Ock -> Sandman -> Lizard -> etc

But instead we got:

That whole scene is gold. The bit with Hoffman and the new slogan.

It's such a perfect, indulgent little comedy scene.

May 4th. Friday. I am 12. My dad takes me to see Spiderman 3.

May 5th. About 1 am. I am playing the Spider-Man 3 game on my ps2 when I hear a strange noise and decide to go to bed.

May 5th. 6:30 am.
I am awakened by my mother slamming the walls. Screaming. “Fire! Everyone out!”

I emerge from my room and am immersed within the flames. The familiar living room has turned in to a cavern of Fire.
The computer I used so often. The television we just got. My ps2 and my games. My vhs. My dads expansive vinyl collection. All slowly melt around me.

I, dazed, stumble outside. Past my father, laying on his stomach on the porch, spraying the extinguisher in to the burning house. It is pointless to fight.

I step on to the sidewalk. I see my neighbors. I am a little embarrassed, in my tattered South Park T-shirt and shorts. But not conscious enough to realize it.

I watch the home I grew up with, consumed.

Suddenly I realize... I don’t know where my dog is. Henry. He’d been my best friend since I was 5.

I don’t think.

I run in. The firefighters yelling to me not to. Their voices are blues. Their voices are like paint or ink. Smudged.

I know where to go. I run past the flames. I ignore them. I go through the back yard, round the corner. And find our spot. A large tree. So heavy that it had grown to the side. It formed a small cave.

Henry liked to hide there. I crawl in. I find him. Shaking. Bleeding. Burned.

I hold him closely. I hold him against my chest.

As I walk out of the fire, I spot a fireman weeping. He saw me. He sees me holding my Henry tight.

Henry grew old. He lives to be 16. He stays with me.

I close my eyes and I see my game boy color melted. I see singed yugioh cards. I see my snes blackened. I see my games unsalvageable.

I see myself. Holding my Henry tight.

And I see these things each and every time I see Spider-Man 3.

Your shit doesn't make sense, two movies between ock and Nugoblin wouldn't work big ass time gap. Nugoblin should have been Hobgoblin (only chance we really had at another goblin at all.) And should have been the subplot for the 3rd film, coming back to help save MJ in the end like he did was a good redemption.

Nothing is shit in the hands of raimi. Especially when you could have a movie in between to set up Carnage. I mean there are other better villians but that would be a masterpiece of a six film saga.

i think that maybe the marketing with all the black suit and all gave people the impression that the movie would’ve been more mature, which it still was in many ways. there were many similar camp scenes in the other 2. i guess people forgot that peter is still just a dork in a chad body.
topher grace has to be one of the biggest miscast ever. it seems like they wanted another person who looks like peter rather than a machoman like eddie really is. he also left that 70s show for this role IIRC

The movie was originally written as Sandman and Vulture. Ben Kingsley was cast as the latter and they already started working on the suit. Concept art and photos of it exist.

Vulture would've been an evil douchebag and Sandman would've been the sympathetic stooge.

Peter would've been a bit of a self-righteous cunt and have to learn a lesson in the greys of morality.

But Avi Arad forced Venom on Raimi half-way through. So that was scrapped, the self-righteousness angle got weaved in to the black suit stuff, and the rest is history.

Less information there, but the limited evidence seems to suggest that he would've spent a lot of the movie being torn and tortured by his lust for revenge and his not wanting to kill his best friend, and that ultimately he doesn't suit up until the end of the movie, but to help Peter out in a tag-team the same as it is in the version we got.
