I don't like him as a person because he seems pretty dickish and he's okay with people raping animals. As a film reviewer, he isn't much better. He has absolutely no respect for the history of film, nor does he know very much about it. He's made several comments in the past about the subject of film history, and his knowledge of it is so pathetic that I could have pointed out its stupidity when I was 15 (the whole Citizen Kane thing was just embarrassing). His reviews are extremely nitpicky. In his YMS for Frozen (the horror film, not the Disney one), he spends a great deal talking about how there's a light on the characters at night, and concludes that it's bad filmmaking because of how unrealistic it is. I personally don't like the film very much, but this criticism shows that he knows absolutely nothing about the art of filmmaking. Cameras are much less sensitive to light than the human eye is. In order for a camera to pick up on anything at all at nighttime, there has to be a light, and Frozen did do a pretty good job at not making the light too noticeable. This may seem a bit specific, but I think it nicely shows the core flaw in his criticisms. He has this weird standard of absolute and total realism, something that is seldom demonstrated or even attempted in film. I have absolutely no idea how he finds any enjoyment in film at all, and if you took the films from his top 100 list, you could easily make YMS styled reviews on all of them. The only possible use his videos can have is that they're sometimes entertaining, but even then, you have to turn your brain off in order to enjoy them.

I'd like to point out that I'm not saying I didn't hate this movie, just that there is a lot of problems that stopped me from really liking it. Skip to this point if you don't want to hear spoilers, but there was this one scene where a character did something dumb that didn't make any sense. The whole time I was thinking "WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT, I WOULD NOT DO THAT". Also, I feel I should point out that in the theatre I was watching this in, a guy was on his phone the entire time. I asked him to stop but he still continued, so I had to get one of the employees to deal with it. There was an argument for some time before the guy got kicked out. Why come to a movie just to sit on your phone? Anyway, despite my criticisms, I still think this movie was okay, but also really dumb and I give this one a 6/10.

Yeah Ralph doesn’t tend to hyperfocus on plot holes and shit like dogfucker does. Usually he’ll at least bring up technical aspects of the movie and talk about most of the aspects like the music, lighting, and editing. YMS just kind of run through the plot and talks about plot holes whenever they appear.

Personally I find people being assbalsed by his statement and calling him a dog fucker way funnier.
As far as I'm concerned, animals don't (and shouldn't) have rights, they can't be victims, and you can't commit a crime against an animal.
You can commit a crime against people which somehow involve animals (for example like killing someone's pet, since the pet is their property, or hunting endangered species), but punishing a human for something that was done to an animal and has no negative impact on a person is unforgivable, as humans > animals.
This is not to say that I tolerate senseless violence towards animals, but you get the idea.

Welles is one of my favourite directors but I genuinely cringe whenever I see an overly-praising review of Citizen Kane as if it really is the best film ever made when it really fucking isn't. It's fantastic, but its entire legacy has been created by a legion of basic bitches who want to seem interested in film but aren't interested in actually delving deep into the world of cinema.
Even then I only really watch BotW and Re:view. With each HitB it seems like they're more and more dissatisfied with the state of cinema, and nobody can be bothered to watch them review genuinely good but less popular movies. Everyone just wants them to talk shit about the superhero movies they don't like.

I used to check this guys reviews out before I figured his tastes and points of criticism differ largely from myself. Thought his reviews were decent like 4 years ago and it gave me an alright idea of where to look for good movies but after watching all of his "favorites" I came to the conclusion that were different species when it comes to reviewing movies.
His points of criticism in movies if some of the most petty shit around. If a mysterious plot point is not spelled out for him and backed by multiple sources then he nitpicks the most idiotic things. "why are the baddies doing this?" "why cant they just do this instead of doing that?". Sometimes these thing don't have answers and its up to interpretation. Was Cobb actually still in a dream at the end of inception? Why were there copies of everyone and how does the system work in US? I don't need this shit spelled out for me for it to be a good movie, there were hints littered throughout and what matters wasn't the destination, it was the journey. And Adam, the self-loathing fag horsefucker, cares only about the destination and couldn't care less about the experience of actually watching the movie.
