Season 1 >Group of hip trendy 20 something having wacky fun times in the city.
Season 9 >Group of awkward, depressing 40 somethings still clinging to their youth after failed marriages and still working menial jobs, living in the same apartments and acting like people half their age
Should shows just end a lot sooner before they become a self parody?
I don't know why, but this show always enraged me when it was airing. It still sort of does today. How do they manage to make everyone unlikable on purpose?
Daniel Sanders
They were supposed to be in their 20s lmao?
Leo Nguyen
I mean, you can really age overnight in 10 years in the worst possible way.
Juan Cox
Pic didn't load and I thought you were talking about How I met your mother.
Cameron Garcia
worst offender of this coming through
Season 1 >group of 20 somethings, friends from highschool >working at a bar but all have hopes of being more some day >wacky teen hijinks get them in trouble with the law sometimes
Season 14 >Group of out of touch 40 somethings still working the same bar, still living in the same apartments >illegitimate kids and failed marriages, >all are pretty sure will never reach any of their dreams ever >wacky illegal hijinks and all are basically felons, one nationally known to be a murderer
This show became unintentionally very fucking dark as the seasons and years rolled on
is there any characters on friends you'd actually want to be friends with?
Joseph Williams
Glenn uses the excuse that the gang was supposed to get more pathetic and deranged as the show went on. But that could have been accomplished in seven seasons, not 14+. Now Sunny is like the Simpsons: Fox is only keeping it alive for bragging rights.
Brandon Lopez
They at least had some respectable jobs and a few of them did try to grow up some, have a kid and move to the suburbs. There was some moving on before tv show status quo came back.
Mason Phillips
It's definitely a lot like the Simpsons in how everyone is an overly exaggerated caricature of what they used to be in earlier seasons. Dennis and Frank most of all. Maybe Cricket too.
Noah Williams
They were in early to mid 20s in first season and 10 years older in last season. I take you did not actually watch the show because they all progressed a lot, unlike what you described. I don't remember what happened to Phoebe but the other 5 had successful careers by the end. Both the actors and their characters were in their 20s.
Nathaniel Thomas
Chandler seems cool.
Jayden Butler
>wacky teen hijinks get them into trouble with the law >working at a bar but all have hopes of being more someday jesus christ imagine misrepresenting iasip this much
Kevin Bennett
chandler and joey
James Hall
Joey was a total bro
Josiah Phillips
What's the best season of this sheit?
Angel White
Joey seemed like the only one that was normal. Everyone else was insane, or came from some really fucked up background.
Luis Evans
4
Aaron Bell
who cares about background when it comes to friends? if they are cool when you know them, then it didn’t effect them in a way that becomes a factor in determining friendship
Alexander Brooks
what’s the worst?
Gabriel Young
Only Joey. Are you me? Everyone in my family thinks I'm crazy when I say this.
Jason Peterson
Wait who's the murderer t. stopped watching after Season 9
Justin Rivera
He's probably referring to S12E5, which is a Making a Murderer parody based around a rumor that Mac and Charlie made up. youtube.com/watch?v=t61VUYK0DWU
I think season 1 and 2 are comfy because they were so early 90s. I don't find any of the jokes really that funny but I find the show very visually and aesthtically pleasing for some reason. Maybe its the sets.
Early 90s = kino Late 90s/late 2000s = disgusting
Connor Morris
agreed. I had surgery last wednesday so Ive been rewatching the series and the difference between season 1 and 6 (the one I’m on now) is crazy.
The first season alone makes light of cancer and molestation... the show was always dark
Connor Sanchez
This doesn't seem right. Monica and Rachel were in the same class together in highschool. And Chandler was in college while Monica was in highschool too so he was definitely older. Same thing with Rachel, Chandler was in college while she was in highschool and she snuk into a party at his dorm.
Joseph Murphy
Except with the molestation thing the Mcpoyles were shown as clearly wrong and were arrested for it.
If that episode happened somewhere post season 9 or so then someone would have actually been molested by the coach within the episode.
Jason Rivera
He put the actors ages. In the show I think they were all 26-27 in the first season.
James Cruz
Weirdly today the actors that play joey and chandler look the oldest of the group by a huge margin
Thomas Myers
rachel and monica at the same time while phoebe films
