I hated that fad of fantasy movies that were in reality not fantasy at all but just the imagination of the boy/girl to confront reality

I think I remember having a crush on this boy or the idea of this boy as opposed to his actual character/actor when I watched this movie when i was about the same age, or maybe when I just watched the trailer. When you're not sure if you're taking delight in self-inserting as the boy getting the attention of cute girls, or taking delight in the idea of him being your friend.
