my understanding is that is a contraction of the words "fixing to" used by members of the person of colour community
>i'm fixing to bake you a cake
>imma finna bake dat cake yo
>i'm fixing to perform a dance move on that buffoon
>imma finna dab on that fool

Adding "yo" to a statement is unnecessary and comes across as though you only have a surface level understanding of Ebonics. Also "imma" doesn't sound as good to the ear alongside "finna" since it makes you sound like Mushmouth from Fat Albert. A more correct version would be something like:
> I'm finna bake a cake, bruh/cuz/etc. You tryin to cop some?
Also the younger generations don't actively use the word "fool" like the ones in the 80s & 90s did.
Samuel Evans
