Honestly, exploring with unmanned probes and rovers is 1000x safer and more cost effective than manned exploration. At this point, sending humans to other Solar objects is just for propaganda. It will be decades before our tech is good enough to establish permanent extra-terrestrial colonies.

>who filmed it
There were cameras on the outside of the LEM.

>Signal in Space
It was a special proprietary NASA signal similar to radio. They streamed the signal to several tracking stations on Earth which were then filmed by the press cameras, hence the atrocious quality.

Sadly, NASA taped over the original quality moon landing tapes because they used to reuse all their tapes.

That's the pressure suit boot. The actual boots they wore outside the LEM were left on the moon because they were afraid that lunar soil might have microbes that could contaminate Earth. They stopped doing that after Apollo 14.

Those mountains don't look remotely alike.

Yes, since they used the same equipment. The later missions have better pictures and better quality footage, they also spent far more time on the moon but few people give a shit about them because they weren't the first.

Ooof. Guess someone should have checked what kind of a protected camera they were using.

The amount of radiation exposure you get going through the Van Allen belts is literally less than the background radiation you get just living on Earth.

You have to remember that a space craft travelling to the moon and back is moving several times faster than a fucking bullet. Astronaughts got exposed to way less radiation than you would think.

>The point is that the midwest floods like every year and people are still surprised.

you are actually pretty wrong. In the early 70s the corp redid all the levies and instituted flood control measures such as dams and lakes on tributary streams and rivers.

Now flooding which was widespread and seasonal is rare and only happens in places where two giant rivers converge like Cedar Rapids.

90% of Solar systems in which we observe exoplanets it's just a brown dwarf/hot Jupiter orbiting its star at Nercury distance preventing any other planets from forming within a reasonable distance from the star.

Solar systems with stable terrestrial worlds within the life zone of their star and gas giants further out where they can't harm anything appears to be the exception rather than the rule.

Not to mention most exoplanets seem to be tidally locked to their star.

As far as we can tell the Sol system is pretty special actually.

aren't those the easiest ones to spot though?

they managed to make a bikini commercial wholesome and cute

Yeah, I should probably have put a side note it's entirely possible that's just the easiest kind of exoplanet to detect.

Our ability to detect exoplanets is extremely recent too, so as tech and understanding grows we might find out that our system isn't that unique. It might be the case that all we can see right now are brown dwarfs and large gas giants close to their stars. We have found some possible terrestrial planets but they are all very close (relatively speaking) so that we can actually detect them.

In fact proxima centauri (the closest star to Sol) has a terrestrial exoplanet in its life zone. Its tidally locked so it's probably barren, but we know it exsists.

I think we went to the moon, but I don’t think the footage is real.

I think it's over.

You don't even need a telescope.

I can just make out Saturns rings with my 60 dollar pair of binoculars.

Who was the first man to fart in space?
Who was the first man to shit on the moon?
Who was the first couple to fuck in space?

Will we ever know?

*wonky space music*

Trips of truth

Did Niel really drop his daughters bracelet in the crater :'( or did they make that up for the film ?

Is this really what Americans are taught in school? He CLEARLY says "one small step for man" because he's a dunce and was educated by uncle sam

>Who was the first man to fart in space?
Probably Yuri Gagarin
>Who was the first man to shit on the moon?
John Young
>Who was the first couple to fuck in space?
Me and your mom

The flag has been bleached white now. What if aliens seen it and thought we were surrendering? There would be nothing to stop them from probing our sensitive and fertile buttholes.

I'm scared and slightly aroused gentlemen.

>when you realise it's likely the first sex in space was gay sex

why don't you try reading accounts from the people of that time instead of pulling from your ass a gay foreigner opinion

Now let us sit back and laugh at the seething Eurotrash

>walking on the moon

Do Americucks really do this?

Yes America is great and all that but can we get some Soviet space conspiracies going?

no

there are plenty that they've hidden lots of cosmonaut deaths, which isn't too far fetched, as the soviets suppressed knowledge of an explosion that deleted dozens of scientists and an entire launch complex

You would think that after the USSR collapsed they would be like 'yea people died'

Why? They wouldn't gain anything from it

Wouldn't hurt them either. Nobody looked at the Soviets and thought 'now thats a government who truly cares for the safety of their citizens'

>What's with the autistic robot movement
It's Ryan Gosling.

This movie is truly a masterpiece in the absolute most genuine way. Highly recommend watching. If you have an opportunity to see it in IMAX, definitely go. They've been showing it every day for the past few months at the ontario science centre. I'd have to assume there are other IMAX cinemas showing it too.

What happened to the documentary that was using for the first time the remastered footage from NASA?

They didn't show this in my country, really pissed me off because even the home release looks gorgeous and sounds amazing.

ONE GIANT LEAP FOR BING GORDON!
I'M ON THE MOON!
I'M ON THE GOD DAMN MOOOOOON!

So we should terraform Venus since it's closer to Earth size ?

You're a fucking idiot user. It's a shame we have to share the same Earth. If it were up to me all sub 80 IQ people would be genocided

The entire Apollo program only cost $25 billion over 12 years( $135 billion today)

In twelve years the us will spend $600 billion dollars in foreign aid. Now considering how much commercial technology has come out of NASA. What do you think is the more beneficial program?

It's there and it's fine. The best quality we can hope for with the footage we have.

>possibly the greatest moment to have ever been captured on film/television

The problem is that picture is not that moment, there is no external view of Armstrong actually taking that first step down off the ladder - there's only the very dark footage of him on the ladder as seen from a camera pointed out the window of the LEM.

That picture in the OP is of Aldrin coming down at a later time - it wasn't even Aldrin's first time on the surface either. It's taken on day two of them being on the surface from a Moon-surface set up camera they put in place the day before.

GET YOUR FUCKING FACTS STRAIGHT, YOU PUNK BITCH

inside ramirez is the real one. if outside ramirez was the original he wouldn't immediately panic, he'd be confused and thinking they were playing a prank.

I didn't know this was even a thing, thanks for letting me know. Got a ticket for the showing two weeks from now.

The footprint is also Aldrin's. Armstrong's boots had a different sole as well I think.
