Where do you think you are, user.
1>3>covenant>prometheus>2=4
I only consider the first to be canonical.
Prometheus was the best. Nothing wrong with Aliens though.
alien>aliens>4>covenant>prometheus>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>alien 3
contender for the worst movie ever made.
Reverse it and you have 10/10 taste.
Alien>Aliens>Alien 3
Resurrection is trash and the others aren't Alien movies so I don't care.
No, Alien still is the best of the lot.
All these people haven't seen Alien Cubed Directors Cut
What, Assembly? Yes I have. I'm a rare person who likes the theatrical better. The alien makes more sense being birthed from a dog. Golic's subplot doesn't wind up making any difference at all, and most additions have to do with more of the inmates' bullshit religious babbling than anything else, and they're impossible to care about or take seriously.
Alien>Aliens>>>Alien 3~Prometheus >>>>>>Resurrection>>>>>>>>>>>covenant
Alien>>>>>>>>>>>Prometheus>Aliens>Alien 3>Covenant>Resurrection
Sorry, yeah the assembly. Strange taste you have.
I wish I had the time to edit the cut scenes together. Assembly cut lacks a few scenes
*tips fedora*
Alien > Covenant > Aliens > Prometheus = Alien 3 > Resurrection
Alien and Aliens are equally great, both 10/10.
Alien 3, Ressurection and Prometheus is equally bad, Covenant is the shittiest of them all.
>Redditfag is unable to understand the aesthetic and philosophical themes of Covenant, the post
Covenant is the second best Alien film.
You seriously liked the fanfiction by a 12 year old of having David the android of earth origin being the creator of the xenomorph we see in Alien?
Swap Covenant with Prometheus amd dont equal it with 3
This is the list:
Alien > Prometheus > Aliens > Covenant > Alien 3 > Resurrection
It may be strange, and I respect people's opinions about that. I just don't understand it. Nobody can really explain it to me. There's a couple nice tweaks here and there, but it's heavily outweighed by all the shit that just makes the movie much, much longer rather than better. I really don't see much of the additional material having substance. Maybe if it had a lot of good character development I would care more but almost all the characters are "murderers and rapists of women" aka assorted irredeemable psychopaths so there's nothing to be done with them. I can't get over the ox/dog thing either. The xeno doesn't move like an ox at all.
It's fanfiction level, you fucking asshole.
If David being the creator of the xenomorphs was the plan all along and not an obvious after thought, then why even have the plot involve aliens at all?
You could have told the replicant with daddy issues creates bioweapons as a revenge against humanity plot on a future earth instead.
Now the alien element is just window dressing.
Totally. Anyone who disagrees is a pseudo intellectual
>redditor is mad because of lack of understanding
>If David being the creator of the xenomorphs was the plan all along and not an obvious after thought, then why even have the plot involve aliens at all?
Nobody said it was the idea all along, this is a misunderstanding on your part because you lack intelligence. Rather, it is taking the franchise in a new direction while still incorporating the basic themes of Alien.
You see, Alien has always been inherently human. The Space-Jockey is humanoid, the Alien is a parasite that specifically attaches itself to humanoids (or mammals if we also include Alien 3) to produce a humanoid product, a perfect organism with a humanoid shape but armed with acid blood, hard skin, and a lot of aggression. It represents the human drive for perfection gone 'wrong'.
Alien 3 had some of the best cinematography in the series.
You are basically aproving a retcon.. And no, the basic themes are not still there, it's Blade Runner mixed with Terminator now, no mather how good or bad you think that is you still have those francheises instead for that stuff and it's not Alien anymore.
And no, the space jockey never was designed as being an albino avatar, it was a biomechanoid (if it was for example Cameron and not Ridley that rebooted them to albino giants, you would call it childish and retarded, you are just fanboying) and the alien tech is not destinctive from the human tech, in Alien it was as functional as possible to destinct it from the surreal biotech look of both the space jockey and the ship itself where you couldn't tell what was organic or what was mechanical. They alien tech is what's supposed to be outlandish and unexplainable.
Even on a surface level Prometheus and Covenant is filled with Star Trek gloss, both the environment created by aliens, which was supposed to be creepy in Alien 79 and the human ship, which was supposed to look used and functional and not like something from Star Trek.
Where's the Star Trek gloss and bright colors in HR Giger's art?
> liking alien 3
>it's Blade Runner mixed with Terminator now
MOTHER and Ash, the machine duo, arguably have a bigger role in the original than the titular creature. You need to watch these movies user.
3 > 1 > Covenant > Prometheus > 2 > 4
It's better than Prometheus and Covenant at least and doesn't take as massive dump on the lore.
Yes, killing off Ripley is better than what they did to the space jockey and the origin of the xenomorphs in Prometheus and Covenant, the Ripley arc was already cleared up anyways in Aliens and there was not much more to tell with her as the main character.
Of course it's a retcon, but it's in lines with the themes of the original as I have already explained. If you disagree you need to watch the first movie again and pay attention to e.g. Ash.
Furthermore, here's an interview with Walter Hill.

Note:
>... And of course, our best character was the Alien.
>FI: Can you elaborate?
>WH: For example, David and I joked about calling him/her Nietzsche, you know, Beyond Good and Evil. Seriously, that was one of the things in making the thing fly – we articulated that notion in a way that got to the audience.
The whole "muhh scary cosmic horror" is a reddit/nu-male invention.
Alien > Aliens > Alien 3
The rest are stupid
Classical tier can only be enjoyed if you have faith in a higher power
why did such a great franchise have to be completely dumped on
from alien to AVP, every movie completely shit on and disregarded what happened in the previous movie, more and more each time
It's got great set design, a great score, great acting by pretty much the entire cast, the stop motion compositing is probably the best ever attempted in a live action movie, thing is it doesn't come together because the story became so muddled throughout the pre-production.
we're waiting for the next davidkino
That's what you think when in actuality it's a lazy plot device to tell the origin story of the xenomorphs with humans, they intended the space jockeys to be the creators of the xenomorphs, but now they had to film it and since watching space jockeys that don't speak English developing the xenomorphs in some sort of lab dosen't make for good popcorn entertainment, they had to reboot it with humans and a violent conflict involved.
It's no better than using time travel as a plot device to undo things.
For me, it's the embryos
aliens
alien
alien 4 barely third place
alien 3
all new ones are shit tier
I'll rank the series for you.
Alien > Aliens > Alien Covenant > Prometheus > Alien Vs. Predator > Alien 3 > Alien Resurrection > AVPR
I think you need to watch the movies again.
Based
But if you prefer Blade Runner over the Alien franchise, then why don't just watch that or at least claim it would be a better direction for a Blade Runner sequel than an Alien sequel?
Would the Godfather be as brilliant if it was a sequel to Citizen Kane? You wouldn't call it unfitting and pointless when you can make a new movie or francheise instead?
>Resurrection is trash
Fun movie.
Now this is right.
>Prometheus>Aliens
not that user but the only scenes i liked in the AC are the tattooed rapist giving himself up as bait for the trap and golic freeing the alien after it's trapped - everything else in the AC i can do without
No, it's clear to me space jockeys was the creators of the xenomorphs from the beginning, Ridley even said so on the audio commentary and in interviews, but he didn't plan to film it.
Now he pulled off his beard in desperation cause he couldn't wrap his head around of how to tell the origin of the xenomorphs in an exciting way, so he read somewhere on social media of David being the creator, so he settled with that instead so he could involve explanations in a human voice from real actors and also could involve a violent conflict, with a kung fu fight between two androids among other things.
Yes, watching the space jockeys developing the xenomorphs for months or maybe even years is kinda boring, that's why you don't film it, or at least have it as a short montage only.
Sometimes backstories are just backstories.
Kys
They didn't create the xenomorphs.
>I've always been a fan of the Alien series since I found the original concept boring and like this new direction they are taking
I like apples since I hate the taste and can exchange them for oranges which I like.
1 and 2 tie.
alien is the only truly good film and it should never have been a franchise
1>2>3
Poor bait
Aliens was the dumbest and most overrated.
Alien, Aliens>>>>>> Alien 3> Ressurection, Prometheus>>> AvP> Covenant
>prometheus is top tier
10/10 bait
That would be Covenant
>B-but the action!
Covenant has a fucking kung fu fight between two androids, plenty of action and are full of gloss while Aliens still maintained the gritt and visual design.
Prometheus is just a little more violent Star Trek film.
Covenant is Friday the 13th in space.
>There are zoomers ITT right now who unironically think Prometheus and Covenant are better than the original trilogy.
>there are redditors in this thread right now that think that aliens is better than alien
They are equally good, mellenials made up that fake conflict in their delusion that Aliens is just another 80s action movie when in actuality it's filled with horror elements and takes it's time between the action scenes, it for example has the scariest facehugger scene. (or maybe even the scariest spider horror scene, at least for a massive arachnophobe like me.)
It always seemed to me that David reverse engineered the black goo and was attempting to create the "intended form". Just because David succeeded in creating the xenomorph doesnt mean the engineers never created it first. There was already a mural sculpture of the Xenomorph in Prometheus.
He still was the creator of THE xenomorph we see in Alien, which is the lazy plot device.
It was lazy already by making a prequel at all, since you have to involve humans for entertainment value and therefore changing it so it isn't the first encounter with the space jockeys or the xenomorphs in Alien.
Its not a story that demanded to be told.
If Ridley is arguing that you have to retconn it and involve human encounters, then that's just proves a prequel for Alien is uninteresting and pointless.
Patrician taste.
BASED
This but unironically
Covenant is a dumbed down Aliens with even more action, you stupid fuck.
Very cringe
Why do you say that? He managed to create the creature that the black goo was always intended to create, but the face-huggers in Alien were found in a crashed engineer ship, whose origins we still dont know. If there is another sequel that further explains David being directly responsible for the crashed engineer ship and the face huggers in the original Alien, yeah that would be fucking gay. But for all we know so far that isn't the case.
Alien=Aliens>Alien 3 Special Edition>Covenant>Prometheus>Alien 3 Theatrical cut>>>>Literal shit>>>>>>>The Room>>>>>>>>Star wars holiday special>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Alien Resurrection
I can agree with this. I just don't get why the Assembly is touted as wholly superior by everybody. It just isn't.
