When did you realize Returns is darker than all the Nolan Batman movies?

Still my favorite capeshit film. I don't care if it's kind of cartoonish, in fact it's why I like it so much. It has an incredible atmosphere.

saw this as a kid and the nose biting scene scared the fuck out of me. the catwoman scenes felt awkward, but the movie's overall atmosphere was great. everything in this movie felt ugly, unwanted and isolated, and it drew me in.

It’s a much darker and more adult film but on the surface the goofier elements lead normies to believe it’s less dark. But on a thematic level, it’s a very dark and disturbing film.

Worst Batman movie. The caped crusader is narratively framed as a mythological costumed weirdo just like his villanous counterparts.

It’s different from the source material but it’s still a great film so I excuse the changes.

The very first time I tried to watch this movie as a kid, I started crying at the part where Catwoman trashes her apartment, specifically when she puts the stuffed animals down the drain. None of the rest of the film bothered me that much.

Schumacher went way too far overboard with it, but Burton found a balance that was enjoyable but still emotionally investing

I would say some of the subject matter is darker. I mean the penguins main goal was to take all the children of Gotham and drown them in the sewer. Although it was also very cartoony at times.

Yes the bland, uninteresting, sterile, and gentrified settings of New York and Chicago are way better than Burton's sets. And penguins giving their master a funeral is far more retarded than the joker pulling off precise special forces style operations with mental patients, or bane holding an american city the size of new york hostage for months with nothing more than a few hundred prisoners and a handful of mercenaries...after they tricked literally every cop in the city into going into the sewers.

Nolan's films are gritty mature masterpieces for high iq adults.

ra's al ghul is a mass murderer that led a band of mass murderers to exterminate and entire city
joker is a homicidal maniac who ripped off and subsequently killed almost all of gotham's mob bosses
two-face is a horribly disfigured disgraced public official who killed the last gotham mob boss and was ready to kill jim gordon's kid in front of him
bane was essentially a more successful ra's al ghul
nolan characters are plenty dark, and their effects were felt far more than some weirdo who lived in the sewer or some corrupt executive

In Batman Begins, Gotham had a personality and the sets were great but in TDK and TDKR it was just Chicago.

I was 12 when this came out, so it's objectively the best Batman movie.
