This was, dare I say
not scary at all but still enjoyable

Please give me a link I cannot find this anywhere.
>inb4 your local theater
There isn't a theater in my country.
>There isn't a theater in my country.
you're gonna have to beg harder than that. Pajeet.
I don't think it was supposed to be scary
A valid point. I expected more Hereditary spooks going in but was pleasantly surprised.
The cliff-jumping suicide scene was actually quite tame
it was a slow burner. light on jumpscares but thick with atmosphere, a real psychological bone-chiller.
I've wondered this. Can you still call a horror movie good if it didn't scare you? I love Child's Play, and that movie doesn't scare me at all.
a horror movie doesn't have to scare you, it can creep you out, unsettle you, etc. Only faggots expect jumpscares and to be spooked.
Fucking laughed my head off at that scene
I mean, I'm not an easily frightened person, and yet I love horror movies. Can we judge it in an entertainment way?
This movie was shit. The only good thing about it was the visuals. The only likable characters were the British people. The ones smart enough to realize they needed to GTFO
Ive never been scared of the thing but its my favorite horror film of all time. "Scary" is not a merit.
I went expecting a horror movie and was ultimately disappointed
If I rewatch it thinking of it as more of a thriller/drama, I'll probably enjoy it more
the fact that pugh wasn't naked is criminal
Smol
What was the point of the murder suicide at the beginning?
I thought it was going to play a part later on in the story, like maybe the cult convinced her to do it or something, but instead you have this shocking event that happens in the first 15 minutes and then serves no purpose at all at any other point in the story
yes, that's literally what I'm saying
The point of it was that it kept her in a toxic relationship because she became immediately dependent on the guy and was attached to him for the rest of the movie
They were non-characters. All they did was freak out about the attestupa.
Dani was immediately and irrevocably left without any support network other than Christian.
It wasn't done quite as masterfully as Gaspar Noe did it with Enter The Void, but the breathing landscape and facial distortion visual effects really were on par with what one can expect from a psychedelic drug trip.
what is it with this dude and having his characters either catch fire or be given a crown in a moment of utter confusion
One of the few movies where the token black guy actually did deserve to live
had like 8 different plotlines and used none of them, what a waste of time. good shots though
Dani's family is gone because of it and thus the only "family" she is left with is Christian.
Based on the end of the movie, we can assume she has found her new family though.
t. brainlet
do you just copy and past that? Also, you're only making yourself look like an idiot.
Based Chidi
it was kinda fucked up that three people knew what was going to happen and they still let dani go knowing how fragile she was.
I didn't even mean to but I let out a nigger-tier LOL when the toothless hag started pushing the dudes ass to help him fuck harder
A lot of my theater laughed at that scene, it was weird and funny as hell
And then Christian running around afterwards, naked as the day he was born
>scary
Why is this still criticism? I haven’t been scared by a movie since i was 12
>advertised as horror movie
>is not scary
HMMMMMM
The Hargas' "copy-emoting" was bizarre but beautiful at the same time
My mother was quite horrified, but then again she's quick to startle and hasn't seen a truly intense film since the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I suckered her into seeing it with the landscape shots
It actually reminded me a lot of the first times I took acid or mushrooms with a group of kids in high school. It really conveyed that sense of unease while still feeling organic, a confusing cathartic dysphoria that can leave a lump in your throat. I wonder how much of it was improvised.
Sneedsommar
Did Christian deserve it?
I watch scary movies someone spoil the plot for me.
>laughing at rape
yes, for being a spineless coward
americans go to swedish cult, shit gets weird, they all but one die.
it was consenting
it was supposed to be unnerving and quirky like the Wicker Man. but the director has no idea how to make a cohesive story and can only jam horror ideas together.
take the sisters suicide at the start: it was meant to start the main character's arc and be resolved at the end in some kind of study of grief, but none of that was really delivered in how the plot played out.
I laughed a lot when I wasn't supposed to and thought the best parts of the movie were the douchey interactions between the American characters.
You are all broken and desensitized. No reason for pride.
almost all the characters were non-characters.
he reuses ideas because he's a hack.
No it was rape. He was drugged out of his mind.
If you choose to interpret it in such a way, she loses her mind but becomes a part of a new family in the end, and likely became so traumatized that death would no longer haunt her. Thats a dark full circle, but a sort of closure nonetheless
this was MEANT to be the point.
but at the start of the movie it's actually the bf who wants out of the relationship, and the girl who is a basket case clinging on desperately even before the suicide. the shitty relationship which causes her to be invited along. then at the end the bf cheats on her and we're supposed to blame him.
so they didn't set the story up correctly. the writer didn't know how to make the point he wanted to make in an internally consistent way.
He could have tossed the cup into the tree line but he drank it anyways knowing full well it was drugs.
Which I did find to be absolutely ridiculous at that point in the plot, but whatever.
I don't think he expected what he got.
He damn well should have considering at that point he was already fed everything from drugs to ginger pubes, but his rationality was probably still lowered from taking the shrooms just a couple days ago and the shocking events that followed.
I torrented Hereditary afterwards and watched that. it has a classroom scene talking about how Greek Tragedy is about characters whose fate is predetermined -- but what both movies reveal is that the director doesn't realize that the protagonists in Greek lit were let down by fatal flaws, not simply put in a position where they have no control over what happens to them at all. both Hereditary and Midsommar are about the latter, not the horror of tragic inevitability, so they are boring and lack structure.
The scariest part of the whole film was the murder / suicide at the beggining
Everything else was tame compared to it. The way it was presented was fucking masterful.
The film blew it's load too early but was still good.
I love how realistically unlikable and wormy they made her bf. Although you still can't really blame him because what would you do in the situation where the gf you're about to break up with has a horrifying thing like that happen to her?
It was so damn obvious what was going to happen. The movie is so damn slow but actually manages to feel even longer because you know what's going to happen.
i went to this on lsd and had a jolly good time
Thats true, the lead characters were pretty 1 dimensional in both films with their main personality traits being "confused".
I still think he has potential as a director, but would benefit from some time off and maybe some mentorship. The two films came back to back and definitely felt like they were conceived in the same time period. He has strengths but should take notes from some contemporaries like Von Trier imo
Definitely was very haunting at the beginning there, but thinking back I really think the part where he gets drugged and fucks the ginger is probably the most disturbing part of the whole movie.
I dunno, seeing the hollowed out corpse of the kid who pissed on three turned into a shrunken jester doll was pretty memorable.
>gets some sweet virgin ginger pussy
>disturbing
yeah, no.
Dude was so high he couldn't have possibly been enjoying it or even knowing what was going on. When he came he had a look of confusion on his face, not pleasure.
I liked how the tip of the guy's dick was red to show the ginger was a virgin
Was this a rip-off of something or was its plot leaked early? I remember hearing about a very very similar story, including the ending, but from Yea Forums back in 2016.
>could not know whats going on
>has erection and cums
hmmmmmmmmm
he had wanted to do it since he saw her at the beginning.
>tfw you'll never the the virginity of a qt swedish redhead
FUUUUUUCCKKK
Pelle killed her family to start everything in motion
>it was meant to start the main character's arc and be resolved at the end in some kind of study of grief, but none of that was really delivered in how the plot played out.
were we watching two different movies?
also, you could argue that maybe the swedish dude killed her family.
Bruh he was definitely tripping but when you're elbow deep in some teen gash you know whats going on. From the moment when the elder woman invited him into the hut and gave her blessing to fuck, it was game over. They mentioned that the gf was frigid in bed even BEFORE her family was dead. Probably was precumming from the moment he saw those white dresses
t. brainlet or t. Yea Forums contrarian...or both?
its not out yet overseas moron
>also, you could argue that maybe the swedish dude killed her family.
Literally how. Her sister had never met him, she was just a psycho
Innawoods folk with fucked up traditions isn't a totally original concept
why are white people so evil
it's a rip-off of Scary movie
>hey is this specific story from something else
>there's tons of stuff with a vague general premise of the story
THAT'S NOT WHAT I ASKED RETARD
>established that her boyfriend complains all the time to his friends
>swedish dude is the only one super happy that she's coming
doesn't take a lot of thought.
Sounds like a real tour de force that subverted your expectations
Sorry. The original story is from a historical text known as Boku no Pico.

HERE IT COMES RUN
The sex scene was disappointing. They had to cut out majority of it because the movie got an NC-17 rating originally. Hopefully they released a unrated version for blu-ray.
What kind of people like this movie? I haven't seen it but I get an uneasy feeling from its fans. Drama queen types? Is this a "you don't understand me" film?
It's a movie, you idiot. Watch it and make your own decision.
can someone please provide a link to stream
Sounds like the fans of every movie ever.
