Wrong, JJ did what JJ always does (look at LOST) which is relying completely on the mystery to hook the audience in without actually having a resolution in mind. His crude foreshadowing left the future directors with two choices: accept the fact that everything points to X and give audience the suspected, obvious X or ignore the fact that everything points to X and annoy the audience with a fake out.

I watched trailer for Knives Out and it was super fucking cringey, looked like a mess. It's about British detectives, but every other character is American? And every character is quirky and zany like it's fucking Clue. Rian is a 110 IQ midwit that tries hard to be an intellectual zany guy, but everything he does just comes off as messy or forced, despite the high production values.

Rian stepped right up to the brink, stopped, and then turned around and walked back. It was a little disappointing. I was totally on board with the movie when it was about burning down one after another of JJ's ideas. In that one moment when Kylo tells Rey who her parents are, and he reaches out to her so they can build a new Star Wars together, that could have been a real turning point in the story. Too bad. The bit later with Luke vs Kylo was cool, but all it does is leave us basically where we began, but with fewer characters.
