I find it strange when people say they prefer their early stuff, I honestly feel pink floyd didnt really find their unique sound until dark side of the moon. Before that they just sound like some generic 60's band, Echoes is great though.

probably depends if you prefer more virtuoso like hard rock/prog or less structured space/avant rock. personally i think their more famous material is listenable but too slick and polished for my taste. some of the barrett stuff is a little too twee, i agree, but he pushed the boundaries of the instrument in ways i find more compelling than anything gilmour ever did

Great film, but the album is shitty and not even up there with Pink Floyd's best. Basically any other album pre-final cut is better. Apart from a few star tracks, like Comfortably Numb or Hey You, the album is very mediocre, sometimes dipping into shit (looking at you, Vera/Bring The Boys Back Home), overall. 2 and a half hours of whiny shit by Roger 'Daddy Issues' Waters that pales in comparison to Tommy by The Who.
