If HBO made a spiritual sequel to Rome, "Constantinople" in which era of the empire's history should such a show be set? There are a lot of very interesting periods that could be covered.

Justinian

4th crusade

This. I just want my Fourth Crusade dark comedy miniseries.

The period of prosperity under the Komnenos.

How do you guys know so much about the Byzantine empire? I was barely taught about it in school, I only know of it because of art history class talking about it briefly

from le epic history gaems. they dont know shit beyond surface level knowledge

Personal media consumption, college courses, and online discussions on far better boards than this one.

Istanbul
Formerly Constantinople

I'm not that user but Justinian is the one thing they always mention about Byzantine history in school. It's like that one song from a popular artist you don't listen to.

>online discussions on far better boards than this one
which boards

they could make a mini-series out of Robert Graves' "Count Belisarius", but people wouldn't take the main character seriously.

Belisarius was ridiculously faithful to the emperor, who kept sending him out to fight battles with fewer and fewer soldiers. eventually Belisarius was winning battles just by showing up ("Holy shit, is that Beliarius? Time to surrender!") and the Emperor got jealous and blinded him.

Even my super Public American "education" covered the first 4 crusades.

Feed and Seed was the Fuck and Suck
Now it's Fuck and Suck, not Feed and Seed
Been a long time gone, Oh Seed and Feed
Now it's Gummy Bear delight on a Farmer's night
Every gal in Fuck and Suck
Lives in Seed and Feed, not Fuck and Suck
So if you've a date in Fuck and Suck
She'll be waiting in Sneed's Feed and Seeeeeed

The cool thing about Istanbul is that it has such a rich and diverse history

First Greek, then Persian, then Roman, then Holy Roman, then Ottoman

Julian the Apostate and nothing else

why did this show have such a shit budget? i could barely finish it because of how bad the sets looked.

>First Greek, then Persian, then Roman, then Holy Roman, then Ottoman

Greek.
Then Greek.
Persians lasted like 15 minutes.
Romans=Greeks.
Holy Roman=Greeks.
Latin crusaders lasted like 15 minutes.
Greek again.
Ottomans=Not Constantinople anymore.

translation: Greek.

You mean from the Carolingian Franks to the rise of Prussia? We'll need like 25 seasons.

>Dude, I fucking love history! I'm totally addicted to Europa Universalis 4!
