I do but only when the movies been out for a while and not many people will be there.

One time my local theater was playing Fight Club and I had never seen the movie before, so I went to see it by myself.

The only other people in there were a boomer couple sitting in the back.

Why OP? The gimmick is that families, couples and school children go together, its pretty sad to go to the movies by yourself because you will look like you've been stood up on a date or just have no friends.

If I lived in a place that held those matinee things running old classics I probably would have on days when I had nothing better to do, especially if it was some B&W classics that you'd really want to be immersed in. As it is the only place in town only shows new stuff and that's only worth going with mates.

have to say, this. went once (movie had been out a while, so theater was about empty) and yeah. very comfy. had to show ID to get in..baka, glad i'd remembered to bring it.

The times I went by myself I watched Kubo, Mad Max Fury Road, wicked flying monkeys, and the Moomin movie. I think I have watched many more but these are the ones I remember.

I have seen three movies where I was the sole person in the room I have to say I would pay 5x the ticket price to do it again, maybe more depending on the movie. It really is a religious experience. It's turning a communal and capitalistic act into a confessional one.

Well, it's obviously going to be a great experience for anyone who already prefers to watch movies alone. Giant screen, comfy seat, surrounded by nothing but the projector's lights, based volume and temperature; no voices. Like being at home, but better. I would certainly never pay more, but it is an undeniably fine time.

I think I've seen moomin movie releases before, but I've never heard of one actually getting a cinema release. That was the part I got surprised over.
