Why was the diversity in these movies not balked at?
Why was the diversity in these movies not balked at?
No twitter.
Because it's an original movie that takes place in America, where diversity is natural.
Because it wasn't as forced and obvious.
because it wasn't annoying
None of it felt forced though. Why is that?
Because people didn't care about race as much as today
Fucking this.
Almost nobody cares if original work contains diverse characters. People care when you take long standing, well known characters and suddenly change their race then have the gall call those people racist for simply pointing out how cheap and pandering it is.
Because it happened organically. They werent shoehorning these characters in.
Because /pol/ and reddit were still babies who only understood fun.
Also brown chicks with white hair are based.
Because it was an original story and it take place in America. The US is about 70% White (not including latinos) and even less white in urban ares. This movie takes place in Washington D.C., so diversity there feels natural because it's true to life. If it were to take place in the UK, the diversity would feel less natural consider the Uk has a much higher White population which is around 85-90%. Add the fact that it's an original story that isn't re-doing a previous story that had all White characters and replaces those characters with non White characters, it makes the whole thing feel natural and not forced.
The containment board known as /pol/ didnt exist yet.
Because they were good, memorable characters
also Audrey is best girl
I distinctly remember wanting Audrey to punch me
In this case, there's nothing that calls attention to it. The hero archetype isn't subverted, the minority characters are not portrayed as ennobled - its diversity agenda, if conscious at all, is somewhat innocent. Helps that most of the cast is mercilessly killed. Most people like seeing different races and cultures banding together to fight an outside threat. It's a feel good fantasy.
Disney was always seen as queer when I was growing up. This one is past my time though.
Because it's about a gaggle of weird misfits who have a reason to be there.
>Most people like seeing different races and cultures banding together to fight an outside threat. It's a feel good fantasy.
Ah, now I know why I like Predator (Well, part of it obviously)
none of those characters was a redhead before hand
Good taste brother.
this scene gives boners
Because it was natural and not forced, they weren't taking stabilished white characters and making them black then treating anyone who disagrees with it as racists.
If you can't tell the difference between having a good character who happens to be black and a character that's only there to be black then you are retarded
because it wasnt
Because the people who complain about forced diversity were yet to go through high school without having sex.
Because you weren't a virgin yet.
because those films came out before social media and clickbait journalism. they casted actors and drew characters that made sense within the confines of the stories they wanted to tell and the concept of re-booting the race of a character for extra "woke points" did not exist.
Because after a point no one cared about diversity, or diverse casting. Problems arouse when online news media started using it to get easy clicks, and social media liberals started using it to pat themselves on the back. People like that pushed this kind of shit in your face and so as a result it pissed people off.
Even when people pointed it out in the past it was never to complain it was just to tease at the idea that everyone in the group was a unique race or nationality and how silly that was.
