Meh its okay for netflix. Some good some bad, my only real complaint is a bunch of unnecessary family drama shoehorned in. You can definitely tell it was writing by a woman. The family argues non stop throughout the show but it has some cool moments and nellie chick is pretty hot. I wasnt keen on the ending.
I couldnt get into it, but ill probably try it again since theres a second season coming out.
lots of patrician jumpscares. pure intellectual kino desu.
It is ruined by cheap, infantile jumpscares pandering to the incel and boomer audiences.
Inconsistent, non-sensical disappointment.
Creepy and cold multi layered story about a family and their lives using a haunted house as a backdrop. Mostly slow burn but sometimes will pick up the pace. Awkward semi scary scenes and jumpscares included.
Stop it at Episode 6 and pretend the funeral scene is the ending. Everything after that jumps the shark and just gets worse and worse.
Nellie episode is very sad
>acting and dialogue is really fucking cringeworthy at times
>netflix propaganda (all the women are capable, all the men are useless losers/cunts, white women are either lesbian or married to blacks/mexicans)
>decently scary, i guess? mostly relies on jumpscares, which is not everyone's cup of tea.
>great production value
Overall a 5/10.
This is very accurate assessment. I agree whole heartedly
The cute girl is a coal burner, and non of the family members even get upset about it
terrible paced garbage just like your average netflix release
Super fucking scary.
Fun to scan the scenes again for hidden ghosts.
very good horror, no jumpscares, just buildup and tension and scary images
the negative is that it doesn't really pay off in the end
the last episode is pure nonsense, sort of like how Lost didn't have a satisfying conlcusion
also one of the girls is a coalburner
luckily she pays the toll
this, the series had a good start but goes to shit fast, also some of the childrens play better than the fucking adults
incelcore
great beginning, shitty beginning
I'd say the final episode ruins it, because it becomes American Horror Story: Murder House (which was better), but leave most stuff unexplained.
Basically, everybody who dies in the property becomes a ghost, who can interact with the material world during the night, but they can't leave the property.
My issues are that half the series takes place outside of Hill House, and ghosts of the house appear outside of the house, this doesn't make sense with the explanation.
Soap opera with a few spooky moments. A couple of decent episodes halfway, but that's about it. Only watched it for Lulu and Kenna and it wasn't worth it.
is probably the most honest opinion in this thread.
most of the posters here are being unnecessarily harsh or nitpicking. it is surprisingly well done for something that carries on as long as it does.
fun fact, it was also adapted as a film titled "the haunting" in 1999 with liam neeson and owen wilson, but the 2 adaptations are so wildly different you almost cant tell they are related at all
I still don't understand all the reviewers and brainlet normies saying how good the ending was and how it was refreshing to have a "happy" conclusion to the story. What the fuck? The house literally won. It successfully brainwashed the kids into not burning it down, consumed their fathers soul, and will eventually consume theirs once it gets hungry again in a few years. but they painted it as being a beautiful thing because the house "allows" the grounds keeper and his wife to see their daughter.
A decent show, but I liked the original black white movie better
I liked the crooked neck lady
Also what was up with crazy woman ghost? Was she working for the house? If so, why?
good show, disappointing ending
There's a fuckload more ghosts in the house than were really given screentime, Crazy bitch was just some member of a rich family that lived/died there in the 20s if I remember right. everyone that dies on the property gets stuck there, and most don't seem to interact or bother anyone, but some are assholes and latch onto people they find interesting.
Best scene in the show was the absolutely JUST reveal of who she is.
The ghost stuff is really good. The family stuff is really bad. The ending is terrible.
>That poster
WOW Bravo!
very good but some of the obivous netflix type complaints.
yeah, listen to this guy
Promising spooky show in the first few episodes that quickly devolves into a drama about a family bickering over boring bullshit with ghosts sometimes.
Also I will never not be mad that the junkie character is supposed to be addicted to heroin but he looks healthier than most of the other cast members.
time travel was redundant and made no sense
I can only think of one jumpscare that pissed me off in the entire show.
I thought it was pretty good, the atmosphere was creepy without being lame, the lesbian character has some serious Lisa Simpson vibes though, acts like a total selfish bitch through but expects the rest of the family to bend over backwards for her wants and needs.
I watched a youtube video after it about all the hidden ghosts and there's like 50 per episode I never saw, pretty cool.
