Out of all the terrible decisions made this season Billy may be the worst storywise.diversity quota, singing, yelling constantly, now presented in seizure vision, splitting everyone up, music videos, and commercials were all fucking awful as well They didn't know how to use Billy. It isn't a coincidence that Billy was chosen as the host for the 'Mindflayer'. They didn't know how to write for Billy, because based on his behavior last season some terrible shit would come to a head in this season. So they just decided to dodge it in one of the cheapest ways possible. Also Max suddenly caring about Billy after being almost killed by him last season makes no sense at all. Then the writers tried to give his death and life a positive spin by showing him as a child with a good mom and he was a good boy. Then they show a couple seconds of poor Billy being abused, and now we can and should forgive him for becoming an absolute monster. They missed the mark this season out of pure fear of the rabid fanbase. It was one of my biggest concerns coming into this season. That the writers would have no teeth and it was fully realized. Just a shame all around.

Bily never tried to kill Max. Also Billy being abused by his dad was already in season 2. I agree that not all villains need to be sympathetic but you're just misremembering things
