I liked it.
It was great.
>when he stomps on the American's head
Absolute kino
>we
You were probably posting about it at peak tranny hours, Yea Forums loves this film, the first half will probably be a little slow for the zoomer detachments though to be fair
Speak for yourself fag, I loved it
It's pretty dumb. And it's basically fantasy. Borderline capeshit. But it was entertaining I guess. Worse than Bone Tomahawk, but still better than Dragged Across Concrete.
How do I get as strong as Brad?
i liked it. the punches felt like they had weight to them and vince is a fucking unit.
Wouls watching boner tomscock make me gay?
yeahiup+
edgy story and bloated, uninteresting dialogue - just like dragged across concrete
this guy is going the route of David Ayer, fast
Okay then what's your favorite movie
no we didnt
>director of Bone Tomahawk
Gonna put it on my watch later list then. Thanks for the heads up, OP.
Ghostbusters II
Oldboy, the Korean one. Why?
I'm not perceptive, but every thing in this was fake.
>Vince Vaughn
yeah totally believable
fuck off
I liked this and Bone Tomahawk but Dragged Across Concrete was absolute dogshit. What the fuck happened?
>reddit spacing outside of reddit
Way better than tomahawk and concrete.
You got triggered by the black guy living and based duo dying, what a fag
it was Yea Forums's favorite film of 2017
This movie was a giant meme.
>we
Speak for yourself gaylord I enjoyed it.
>better than tomahawk
how? tomahawk was good. it has good characters. it had a comic relief that was well written and funny. it had some gore, which was well done, but not too much. it was a very decent movie. this is just bad.

dude is like 6' 5", what are you talking about?
You need an actual line break, you didn't reddit space there.
this is why blacks are poor
t.
An after the credits stinger with him back to hustling, his mother hooking, and his brother wheeling around on a trolley would've been a little much
>being that mad that someone doesn't like your poor man's version of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice with badly choreographed and executed fight scenes
Pathetic. Where do I get this?
I loved it.
At first I thought it was going to be a comedy as I haven't heard about it here in our country. Was talking to my wife how funny Vince Vaughn is then he starts pummeling the car.
I liked this film
Vince is great, After True Detective we got a lot more serious roles and he literally killed it in this
Zahler is a hack
pleb filtered
Main character is the simultaneously a literal cuckold and also an indestructible Gary-Stu who literally never comes close to defeat. It's some kind of weird cope power-fantasy.
And that's without mentioning Vince's "acting"
I too don't know what literally means.
It was laughably bad
worst fighting scenes ever
>he literally killed it
he ended it's life? what was "it"? and why did it deserve to die
We long ago established what the word literally means here
this is 4channel, nothing is permanent on here. we are having the same arguments and fights here every day. every day.
the only way to establish something is by posting it again and again, every day. every. day.
Tomahawk wasn't good. Its full of jumping out of frame troglodytes that disappears and let characters forget about them immediately. And as soon as characters aware, they jumps at them again. No suspense and danger, troglodytes just teleporting pack and forth whenever they need.
Gore has also no impact, because you can just see everything, and you know there no way he would survive.
Dont remember anything funny in this movie. All the walking felt boring and pointless, and not because it slow. All this guy`s movies feels this way to me, i suspect because of his awkward dialogues that's plentiful, but say very little. Most of the things happened during the walk doesn't tell nor lead to anything.
>everything has to be self insert fantasy
You don't like movies very much, aren't you?
Look at this shit taste, Bone Niggerhawk is easily the worst of Zahler's 3
>m-muh spooky monster injuns
It's the only one of the three you can even consider a movie, the other two are just a huge pile of shit
>badly choreographed and executed fight scenes
Wow user, you can say a lot of shit about that movie but the fight scenes were an excellent breath of fresh air in a world where fast cuts and obvious over the top choreography is abundant. The still camera and sheer force of every hit connecting felt proper and had gravity. Honestly, the fuck you talking about?
yeah there was weight to the hits and that was cool, but the fights were still way too boring and too obviously choreographed. They didn't feel real.
Try my dick, boy, see if that feels real.
be 6'7
lift heavy objects, put them down, repeat
eat shit ton of protein
Ayer takes himself 100% seriously, while Zahler knows exactly what his movies are/how they're perceived (grindhouse B movies).
I think you have troubles enjoying things or at the least getting into what something is supposed to be. Why is that horrific gore not impactful? Just because the fate is sealed? How does that defy the sudden turn from slow burn to sudden graphic ultra violence? I don't get your points.
If you like Brawl, check out Dragged Across Concrete. Same director, with Vince Vaughn and Mel Gibson in a cop/crime thriller.
Might have been clearly choreograped, but it felt real. No super armor or suspension of disbelief, everything happens fast and ends quickly.
it's sad DAC is not recognized the masterpiece it is. i watched it 3 times and it gets better and better. zahler's best film. also with stellar cinematography, i hope someone made a grid on it.
But it was boooring.
for real, it's fantastic. the offbeat dialogue is underrated, too.
>90 minutes to eat a sandwich?
>i was enjoying it
>a single red ant would've eaten it faster
By "we" you mean reddit?
Well Vaughn obv had super plot armor up until the end but Zahler made it a fun to watch self insert power fantasy. Just would have liked a bit in the effects budget, something more than a plastic skull to stomp lol
youtu.be
>wide angle shows Vaughn dragging behind the stuns guys and constantly missing his mark
I've seen Hulk Hogan sell a punch better than Vince Vaughn
i bet you binge-watch entire seasons of shows on netflix in one day
Will do, fren.
It's not interesting hearing gibson bitch about how some negroes poured soda on his kid. Jennifer Carpenter being introduced so late and getting fucked up so quick was lame. The ending stand off had no tension.
Sawing human in half is not horrific or ultra violent.
>Sawing human in half is not horrific or ultra violent
Read that one over a couple of times.
Well although that is quite horrific, the true horror in that scene is not the visual gore, but the helpless and agonized reaction of the prisoners. Kurt Russells acting was phenomenal and really drove home the horror of the scene.
All three of them are absolute dog shit.
I also want to know what constitutes as horrific or ultra violent.
>mfw Yea Forums hated Dragged Across Concrete because "hurr the nigger won"
I swear this board's collective IQ plummeted after the elections
I guess you answered my question. But you're making a universal claim as to what "true horror" is and that's utterly wrong. Horror is subjective.
The nigger won when he shouldn't have. It would be okay if it was nigger vs nigger, but it wasn't.
awesome redpilled movie
To me the true horror is the reactions, the emotions, the consequences. I also think the very graphic gore is really horrific as well, it is just the reaction of the others in top that drives it home.
>Has never directed a bad movie
>Spearhead of Cinestate, the most based and redpilled production company in the US
Why would anyone hate him?
His makes genre movies for people who think that subverting a single trope transcends the genre.
Prisons are nowhere near as exciting IRL
It wast just about a dude that was an unstoppable force of power and cool. Loved it.
thank god for movies then you imbecile
>INCEL BLOCK 99
Man, imagine a prision block entirely populated by incels.
>Man, imagine a prision block entirely populated by incels.
I don't have to, we're in it.
I thought this was behind the scenes footage of them prepping the Bone Tomahawk scalping lol
I loved how over the top Brawl was in virtually every way.
>Vaughn can rip a car apart with his bare hands
>the bad guy is going to cut Vaughn's unborn baby's arms and legs off so it has to grow up a quadriplegic (fucking kek)
>cell block 99 is a medieval dungeon hidden within a regular prison
>the conflict is resolved by Vaughn's friend/boss wasting the bad guys with a machine gun
It doesn't take itself seriously at all which, oddly enough, makes it seem all the more sincere. There's zero pretention in Zahler's movies, it's great. He doesn't preach to his audience.
Too real, man.
Does anyone know what Zahler has planned next?
He's writing a script for Park Chan Wook's next movie, The Brigands of Rattlecreek
zahler wrote it years ago and PCW was supposed to direct it back in like 2012. now that zahler is so hot right now it's supposedly finally getting produced by amazon.
Really well summed up user. Wholeheartedly agree.
>Zahler
>Hot
Bone
>Budget$1.8 million
>Box office$481,525
Brawl
>Budget $???
>Box office$7,144
Concrete
>Budget$15 million
>Box office$305,669
He's not a box office director, but he clearly has an eye for it. He's got a consistent 'style' or 'tone', similar to how Tarantino movies feel like 'Tarantino movies', for better or worse.
I agree, Bone Tomahawk is one hell of a start to a career.
Bone Tomahawk is pure kino, one of the best westerns of the last decade, and everything else Zahler has made has been grindhouse schlock.
Auch
It's basically capeshit. Unironically.
How, all of anons point is the opposite of capeshit.
I've gotta agree. I love all three of Zahler's flicks, but Bone Tomahawk is just so polished. Well acted, concise writing, interesting characters with actual depth. Not saying Brawl or Concrete don't have these, but it seems like he turned it up to 11 for Bone Tomahawk.
Dragged across concrete was pure kino
did you even read his post?
no, it was pure retardation. there was nothing kino about it. it's the ultimate plebfilter, only plebs don't see how fucking stupid the movie is.
Shut up retard
This, shit, can't believe I didn't notice before
So capeshit doesn't take itself seriously, has zero pretention and doesn't preach to its audience?
Speak for yourself. It's one of my favorite films of the last decade.
no it's not he's just making shit up
>It doesn't take itself seriously at all which, oddly enough, makes it seem all the more sincere
is the biggest bunch of mumbo jumbo i've read today. you watched a good movie and you want to show your appreciation for it, stop there if you don't know what you're talking about.
Yeah I mean if you like it, enjoy, seriously. But personally, watching it made me fucking angry. I was waiting the whole time for it to speed the fuck up or explain all the stupid fucking bullshit but it was all just stupid fucking bullshit and red herrings. What a fucking piece of shit.
>doesn't preach to it's audience
>"yeah I have a flag infront of my house, i'm a patriot. I don't want to see our boys in blue get hurt, I'd rather go to prison and start beef with some cartel druglord."
also, those things aren't really the defining factors. it's an over the top fantasy movie. with extremely overdrawn villains, and an extremely overdrawn and overpowered hero. it's capeshit.
Why are those the defining factors? From where does those rules come from? We were on the points that user made and my point stil stand, aren't capeshit guilty of those things?
So it's mumbo jumbo to you. To me it made perfect sense.
I actually don't watch capeshit.. and for me, what I posted are the defining factors. fantasy, good vs bad, that stuff.
So you don't really watch it, yet you have your own definitions of what it is. I mean you can read up on stuff without watching it, but you do realize how sketchy that sounds when you're in this debate right?
I'm pretty sure many people would agree with me on this, it's probably what most people would define capeshit as. People that aren't into capeshit I mean. You sound like you own a comicbook or two.
Because it's fucking shit
man i forgot how fucking badly the fights are choreographed and executed. all i remembered where that the punches felt like they had some weight to them. thanks user.
I still appreciate the way it's filmed though, not too many cuts and shit
>You sound like you own a comicbook or two.
Really?
WRONG
I loved it. The abortion angle made me super pissed
>Vince Vaughn
Never even heard of it and that’s enough for me to know this movie sucks
Why?
The fact that people here worship drive and shit on brawl is all the proof you need that Yea Forums has no fucking standards
I did
It's not mumbo jumbo just because you didn't understand the post. Someone up above made a good observation - Zahler is like Ayer, if Ayer was more self aware. Ayer's movies are super grimdark 100% serious business all the time, and it can come across as trying too hard. Zahler, on the other hand, knows what kind of movies he's making. He has fun with the characters/story/gore, and doesn't try to teach you a lesson or make you walk away with a new perspective. In other words, the movie doesn't take itself seriously. It comes across as a genuine effort to entertain, rather than feeling like a vehicle for a heavy handed message.
Truth right here.
>Drive
Is a very well written and executed movie.
>Brawl in cell block 99
Is a lazily written and badly executed movie for idiots
just look at
what does it mean if you like both?
>just look at
DUDE JUST LOOK AT A WEBM OUT OF CONTEXT LMAO
>Drive
>Well written
Lol
>CONTEXT
Oh right, it's supposed to be shit
that's a shallow way to read a movie
the message and meaning come from the characters, not some superficial description of the themes and intentions of the director
Zahler movies take themselves completely seriously.
yes, compared to brawl in cell block 99, it's an absolute masterpiece
Bone Tomahawk takes itself completely seriously. Brawl and Concrete are grindhouse popcorn flicks.
Well put user, it's strange that this basic concept is so difficult for people to grasp.
bump, i like this thread. what do you lads want to see next from zahler? i think he should do a horror movie, his matter-of-fact style might make for an interesting spin on the genre.
Was it supposed to be an allegory for descending into the lower circles of hell until he eventually hit rock bottom? his situation just kept getting worse and worse
Prison is literally all incels. (I’m not accounting for the faggots)
Why did this bait work?
This movie rules. It's stupid but it's also very good. Have yet to watch Dragged Across Kino but I imagine it's the same movie with comical violence and cheesy old-world movie antics.
I didn't say that was the only criteria on which I base my interpretations of movies, but it's honestly a logical conclusion to reach - Brawl does not, in anyway, take itself seriously. Re-read my greentext points here and tell me again that Zahler was 100% straight-faced with his presentation of these scenes. Yeah, Bone Tomahawk isn't tongue in cheek like the other two, I misspoke there. But Brawl and, to a slightly lesser extent, Concrete are not meant to make you think.
post your wrist right now
Vince Vaughn is an absolute fucking unit, lad. Everyone just knows him as a comedy guy so they don't realize it. He's pushing 6'6".
i love that scene where the prison guards are trying to guess his height
>yeah, I like that nigger. or is it "nigga" when you're trying to be nice?
>i don't think you're allowed to say either of those words.
>VV's boss is a drug dealing low life
>both saves VV's girl and kills the bad guys at the end
pretty based character in the end
Vince Vaugnhh is a fucking meme actor. Cant stand him in anything. Voice is annoying as fuck.
I’ve been here for 2 whole weeks now so I’m basically tv personified. I loved this movie, kept me fully engaged the whole movie and was something original for once.
Have an upvote my man.
Dragged across Concrete was absolute kino
9/10
Why didn't you like Dragged? I thought it was clearly superior to the other 2 which are also great
I like that, but as a recent father I thought it was just a story of a man who would sacrifice everything for his child.
I think Concrete was at least a bit thought provoking.
It touched on racism, and it's causes. It showed racist people without judgement, and in my opinion kinda of shows what can cause racism to occur.
It also made you think about how far someone is willing to go for money.
And so on
>not enough jumpcuts
Shot caller was just cooler, that's all.
Other way around user. Cell block was horseshit, apparently no-one in prison is as strong as Vaughn
Zahler's films are all equal in quality, you probably just weren't in the proper mood at the time.
