How about not relying on an established franchise? How about taking a creative risk? I mean I see jewish surnames on the clapper, it's not like they'd have trouble financing their films.

This is the world we live in where risk is avoided at all costs by studios. Why do you think we get so many Disney CG fuck fests? Here's the real problem with the Hollywood studio system: no one gets fired for saying "no" to a script. If a producer for a major studio greenlights a risky project with a 250 million dollar budget and it flops, that person never works again. If they say no to a risky project and another studio picks it up but handles its execution better and it turns a profit, the person who said no to it faces no repercussions. It's a simple cost / benefit analysis: the cost of approving projects with a high amount of risks outweighs the benefit. So we get sequels to beloved movies from the 80s and 90s because audiences have awareness of the brand already, we get remakes of traditionally animated movies in 3D, and we get CG explosion wank fests because China eats that shit up
