no. its great movie

No. Sure it had some/several problems but in the end it also had cool world building, set pieces and characters.
It was a watery Mad Max that never took itself too serious. I think if a movie like that were released today it might be quite successful.

No, waterkino is a fun movie, watched it many times with my dad because we love it.It helped he quickly forgets about movies so every time it was like he was watching it for the first time.

I prefer the atari game

No, it's a lot of fun. I don't know why people like to bash it so much. It had production problems and lost a lot of money because of that, but that doesn't make it a bad movie.

It was popular to bash it back when it came out because it lost a tonne of money (Initially) and had a lot of problems during production. It's actually a solid action film though.

Nothing amazing, like a 7/10. Still one of the better mid-tier action films of the 90s.

Yes.

Jack Black scenes even make it worse. You want kino Kevin Costner career died for this movie go check out 'The Postman'.

>Jack Black scenes even make it worse
This has to be bait, most people don't even know that Jack Black is in this movie because his part is so small.

> Mad Max on water.
> Bad.

No, the movie itself is fine. It's the production OF the movie that is bad

Unless your father is literally retarded, that's not how memory works. Besides, you contradicted yourself; how can your dad love a movie that he has forgotten? Actually now it makes sense, he must be retarded and gave birth to a retarded soon who now makes posts on Yea Forums

>soon
*son

this traumatized me as a child

it's a great action movie, dare i say a classic?

One of my five favorite movies.

He basically remembers vague stuff, in this case he remembers he enjoy it and knows that its about Kostner and ships. He is terrible at remembering movies, I have seen many Charles Bronson movies with him, one of them maybe seen with him about 3-4 times and he still does not remember it well, he just remember Bronson shooting at gangsters. He is not retarded, he is just bad at remembering things which is rare since he knows a ton of maths and phisics.

Yup. Marketing and money making are like 99% of what hollywood does though. Any studio would rather have a poorly reviewed movie that profits than good one no one saw. Waterworld didn't make double it's budget, so it's a failure. It's a pretty solid action movie though.

>when he slaps the little girl in the back of the head

Your dad has dementia, user.

>when Helen mouths off to him so he pins her down and cuts off her long hair
>hard cut to Helen and Enola both crying and running their fingers through their newly-cut hair
It's the little things

postman's ending is awful, rest is good. waterworld ulysses cut is better.

it was only a "scandal" at the time because it cost way more than it made

it wasn't any worse than other 90's movies desu

Somehow the publicity over the production cost turned into to negative publicity. Movie is good

>Waterworld
Should have been a crummy Pokemonworld.

My friend and I somehow end up talking about this movie a lot. when we get drunk or go fishing, we inevitably talk about waterworld for some reason. my favorite parts are the calm scenes when the MC is just sailing around and getting to know the two girls. the smokers are okay but a bit goofy, and this may be an unpopular opinion, but i wouldnt mind if they were left out of the movie altogether, or at the very least played a smaller part. i would have liked the movie to be more adventure than action, and to for it to have ore scenes where the characters just get to know each other and search for dry land. would this make a good TV show? and yes i'm with autism

no i watched it a few weeks ago for the first time
the sets are amazing and the characters snd actors are very likeable. action scenes are a bit disorganized and the narrative could have been more coherent. this could have a been a massive 90s blockbuster with a better soundtrack and some polish

shut the fuck up you faggot

the soundtrack is one of the things that makes it, you dumbfuck

For some reason (maybe it was a slow news week for the entertainment news business) everyone latched on to ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS SPENT ON SETS and that's all that anyone in the press ever said when they mentioned the movie during its debut.

Here we are almost 25 years later, and the sets look amazing compared to the CG garbage we get today.

Be sure to watch the Ulysses Cut:

It has an extra 40 minutes of content that was cut from the theatrical release.

i really wanted to live in that world and build my own ship from scrap that i found floating around.

extra 40 minutes? like what is in it, i cant picture that much more footage.

I enjoy this and the Postman
that's right

>extra 40 minutes? like what is in it, i cant picture that much more footage.
The Smokers get a lot more screentime, and you get to see a bit more of the "Smoker Civilians" and how overpopulation due to living fat on raiding atolls has caused the Smoker culture to completely devalue human life (because there's always someone else in line to replace you if you get killed), more about the Atollers and their way of life, a scene near the climax where the Mariner and the others along with Gregor in his airship return to the last survivors of the Atoll attack who've built a tiny ring of boats in the middle of nowhere with futile plans to start a new atoll, and some explicit statements and landmarks that confirm things like Waterworld being the result of the polar ice caps melting and Mt. Everest being Dryland.

That's what I can think of off the top of my head. Also a lot more with the main three characters interacting

Not at all. History has pretty much redeemed it as a great adventure movie well ahead of its time.

wat a prik

interesting, i'll have to check it out sometime

Get raped by a wild nigger.
