There are movie channels that aren't like that, but Yea Forums will trash them anyway. A famous example is Every Frame a Painting. "Oh my god he's talking about cinematography in a Kurosawa flick reddit get out reeeeeeeeeeeee."

Crazy how much I hated dudes like RayWilliamJohnson back in the day due to their lack of creativity, and reliance on commentary on other shit, but even he felt like he had soul back in the beginning. And video response culture in general, where people would just sit there and talk to their camera. It felt genuine, even if a lot of it didn't have substance.

i tried my best to watch him but all his fans sound like edgy 13 year olds. its the saddest thing ive ever seen. it just sounds like a grown man sighing jokes to a middle school class, just for them to respond with whatevers popular on /pol/. how he makes it a day putting up with them is beyond me, he has to be holding so much hatred back from them

The biggest problem with these channels, aside from the animated personae, is the fact that they have to be PISSED OFF and negative about shit. That's what everyone eats up.

Izzy was terrible even when he was Stev. He had two good episodes where he actually talked about animation then he never fucking left. Every time I see a YouTube channel thread, regardless of the board, most of the anons posting their channels are doing video essays, or at the very best let's plays (which was the low-effort content flavor of the week back in 2014-15). The way the internet and the world as a whole are right now has taught pretty much everyone to think like this, with respect to the pseudo-intellectual analysis of video essays, and being able to think analytically to any extent apparently justifies making yourself a cartoon persona.
